Sure is quiet around here!

I guess everyone is busy doing outside things lately.

I know I've been too busy to do any PSP'ing.

Today I've got 5 kids here so I will be lucky if I am still sane by the end of the day.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi Judy,
I peep in when I make my rounds on here before I have to go out and do my chores in the nice weather.
Tune in again when weather is cold. :)

Hi Judy, Urlee. I usually disappear in the spring and pop back in in the fall. Too many things going on during spring and summer and I don't get to PSPing. I pop in once in a while to see what everyone is up too. I miss it and you all, but before you know it the season will be over and I'll back to it. See you soon.

@ Denise I wasn't here for any of the various dramas, but I do think the atmosphere toward vendors is too strict. Even when they aren't banned, it makes them too gunshy to speak freely, and that's a shame since they have lots to contribute. We just have to go elsewhere when we want to talk to them I guess. I never can tell what causes my Hoyas to drop their new growth - I can't tell if they're being sensitive or I'm being a dolt. Maybe someday I'll have enough confidence to try and diagnose what has gone wrong, but for now I just try to take it all in stride... After all, some knocking about is inevitable, both by nature and dopey human caretakers. You know, now that you brought up the whole red leaves going away thing.... I've noticed that my lacunosas show the full drama of their unique coloring during the winter. The Sno Caps gets more variegated, the reds come out in the Ruby Sue and Royal Flush... then in summer they all go fairly green and are much harder to tell apart. They are under artificial light the whole time, with just a north window behind them. Do you guys see this pattern in your lacunosas too? @ Teisa That pachy is rocking out! Nice growing! @ Doug Thanks so much for sharing the pictures of your pauciflora. It's so pretty the way those pink freckles show through the white. I have so much fun growing this plant, but it hasn't bloomed for me yet. I am so excited after hearing about the fragrance! My cystiantha is blooming right now, and I have to say that is one of my favorite scents I've smelled in a while. Kind of like a sugary lemondrop except with a more lemongrassy lemon.

Dang Jay - wish our winter squash looked that good. We planted July 1 then someone decided to shut off the spigot. Hardly a lick of rain here since except for a downpour that hit here at the house but not four miles north where the winter patch is. Plants are stunted - even the weeds look poor. It's not on our land and there is no water onsite so we did not lay drip (guess next year it might be a good idea - probably be a flood year). Just finishing digging the potatoes and have a few red onions to get out hopefully by the end of the week. The potatoes are about average in size and yeild but the onions have done wonderfully. Big and sweet with lots of those nice $1 Candies. Guess the old addage about onions might have a grain of truth - water the heck out of them till the Summer Solstice then let them go dry. Very little neck rot and have dried down better than normal. The cukes and zukes are pretty much a write off - the early plantings did well but even with water the second and third plantings have not done much. Same with the beans - think I picked a half bushel last week and they were pretty poor quality. Nobody has any beans at the markets or the auctions so figure everybody is in the same boat around here. Peppers are doing fine although there has been a lot of sunburn. Toms are doing well (with the exception of a lot of BER on the early pickings and some water cracking thanks to the afore mentioned deliuge two weeks ago). I think the flavor is not quite as sweet in them this year but not sure if it is weather related or something else (perhaps faulty memory). The real bright spot in the toms is the Mountian Magic. They are a little bigger than Juliets (read easier to pick) and much sweeter (more like Jelly Beans). They yeild like crazy and are pretty much bulletproof against cracking. We dropped in a late planting of beans this week along with more zukes and cukes so pray for rain. As soon as I get the rest of the potatoes out going to get in turnips and beets for this fall. The orchard is OK but nothing to brag about. As dry as it has been the apples are small and have quite a bit of scab (think maybe Dad missed a cover or two) but should make a good cider crop. Aside from all that everything is going well - the markets are running above last year and we have not drop from exhustion yet. When's that first frost date again?? Tom

"Lady lawyer" (changed my screen name) is still in on the fun (even paid my $15) but things have been busy, busy, busy! The baby is now mobile (watch out!) and keeps me and his daddy running and laughing, he is quite the little "entertainer", he has little "tricks" he does just to make us laugh (he's either going to be an actor, like my little brother or a lawyer, like me). Work has been hectic too, some of the matters I have been handling recently have been extraordinarily complex (but that makes it all the more interesting). Then there's the seemingly never ending stream of baby showers, weddings, birthday parties, and unfortunately, two funerals in the last two weeks alone . . . thank goodness I have a vacation coming up!

Yeah, we tried ProBoards from the old Weight Watchers message boards, and that didn't go too well. There were some people who kept up but some groups who checked in sporadically like my group got lost. I have a busy job that requires about 50 hours per week like funky said, lots of stuff going on. We have one more month in the semester and I am gearing up for an accreditation site visit, so anything home related is not on my radar at all. I can check in here, but I have no active projects going on. Really, nothing's going to happen here until mid-May.

Same here Teri,
I ended up getting stung by a wasp while I was repairing the bottom rail on my fence.
Something SHARP on my wrist and when I turned it around to look---- there was a wasp and I batted it off in a hurry. It hurt until I poured Peroxide and bactine on it (grabbed anything) then I put a poultice on it and cut the top part of a sock off to pull over the bandage so I could finish my job with a can of spray near by.
Had to replace 3 rails. Come time to paint, that wasp came out and went back in saying, "Oh it's just that ole bag I bit yesterday!"
They must have a nest under my vestibule which I am in no hurry to investigate and get rid of cause every fall I have to crawl under there to lower a jack to compansate for the raising when the frost heaves it up.

Hello All
I haven't been on for quite some time either. Just been busy doing other things. Hope I get back in the swing soon. I do try to look in now and then to see what's going on and what graphics are being done.

I think we are all in the same boat. My sister is here from Texas so I am trying to spend as much time with her as I can. She hasn't been home in about 4 years and last year she almost died. So our time together is pretty special even if she is crazier than me!! haah

Hi everybody. Just stopped in to say hey. Angus takes up pretty much of my time, along with other summer chores. Keeping him from eating rabbit pooh has become a full time job. We have so many rabbits and other critters running around it makes it almost impossible. I don't encourage my other dogs to eat it but sometimes they get to it. For Sophie it isn't a problem because she is on Heartworm med year round, but I have to wait till six months old to put Angus on it, so in the mean time he has picked up tape worm from his little snacks. The dogs think the yard is just a giant salad bar filled with all kind of little treats.
So how's that for my little composition of "What did you do this summer"
