Help with choosing granite please
Comments (30)Thanks everyone! I appreciate all your thoughts! We will be going to look again on Friday. The problem is we live about 2 hours from each of the two granite yards in our area and they are in different towns so it's difficult to go to both in the same day. We did take our kitchen with us when we selected the samples above. It would be impossible to select something at the yard without having the cabinet and tile as a reference! At this point, based on the pictures and suggestions, I'm going to ask the sales rep about Giallo Napoli, Kashmir Gold and maybe the Crema Pearl. The yard we got the current samples from didn't seem to have a lot of options. It's frustrating to feel limited when looking for something like granite....See MoreHave you seen a granite called Taupe?
Comments (4)This is a beautiful slab. As far as the material itself, everything I've read indicates that granite is a better choice for a kitchen counter than marble. Granite is harder and denser and can take more of the abuse a kitchen counter gets with less chance of staining than marble. That's why marble is recommended more for bathrooms than kitchens. Its difficult to tell from this picture, but are there mostly greys or browns in this? If your cabinets are to be creamy warm beige tones, I'd caution against counters that are mostly cool grey tones (of course thats just IMO)....See MoreGranite - taupe, ivory, subtle and part of great room
Comments (6)I have been performing a similar search to yours. Typhoon Bordeaux is in the running, but my husband has commented that he doesn't like the "pink" tones, so it will be dependent on finding the perfect slab. Sounds like you are in the same boat. And to answer the question about movement...if that is what you are drawn to, of course it isn't a mistake! I am going to copy and paste a list of warm toned light granites that somebody from GW was kind enough to draft for me. I have only been able to find a handful of them in local granite stores, but it could be some to keep an eye out for when you are looking. Happy hunting! Comments (6)Well, then all we can do is guess. a brown undertone gray will bring out the brown tones. or a black undertone gray. . no blue or green or pink or lavender undertones. then again, you could use dark tan colors, or sage greens. but this is all a guess since we have no idea what it looks like....See Morethreebees
