OT: I'm so happy!

I just wanted to share that not only do I have a wonderful kitchen in the works, but I just got approved for tenure at my school. I'm so happy. I feel like I have everything I want and need. In the midst of board turmoil, I wanted to share my happy news.

Side note: I know tenure doesn't mean what it used to especially in the face of changing political views on teachers and education, but to me it means that my school values we as a teacher, they appreciate my hard work, and they want to build a future with me. And for me, for now, that is enough.

Oh congratulations, sumnerfan! I know exactly what a grant of tenure means. It's priceless. And, especially in times such as these! I also know what it means to have a wonderful kitchen in the works. OMG. You must be doing the happy dance. Good for you!!!

Oh, yes-congratulations!!

My daughter is going up for tenure this fall so I know exactly what a huge deal this is.

I know everyone is getting something "bad" from the weather right now...I just had to "whine". I went in the greenhouse yesterday afternoon and turned up the heater a bit..It was set to come on at 42* but obviously it was just too cold. I finally got up enough nerve to look at the temp in there around 8am this morning (it got down to 8* again last night) and the temp was 33*...I was SOOO happy to see that. We may all be helping each other "restock" our plant supplies after this winter, but I hope we don't have to!! Stay warm everyone.

That's great news. I am happy for you especially since your son is military. No matter how any of us feel about the war, we appreciate our military people. We spent many holidays alone. Because of the parents and step parents issue, I decided what ever day my children could be with us was "the" holiday. The Christmas my oldest granddaughter was four, they were stationed in Abeline. We lived in San Antonio and my son's father lived in Kingsvile and my DIL's mother lived in Robstown. The kids had their Christmas at home and then drove to SA. The next day we had our Christmas. The day after they drove to Robstown and had Christmans at my DIL's mother's house. They went to my ex's on Christmas morning and had Christmas. Soooooo,my granddaughter got up the day after Christmas expecting it all to happen again. She was a tad disappointed.

Wow Jane, I am tired just reading about what all you did! Sounds like a wonderful time and lots of work and effort on your part. What a large group to entertain! So nice that your DH helps you with the decorating. Mine does not help with the inside at all. I carry everything up from the basement including the trees, all the boxes, ladders, etc. The only thing he does outside is put a blow mold Santa on our mailbox, although this year, he did run an extension cord from the backyard for some of the lights as they kept tripping the breaker this year! Again, getting everything down out of the rafters, off of the shelves, and put up is up to me! Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. I get a bit envious when I hear of other DH's that help with decorating. Anyway, looking forward to your pix. TFS, Candy

Thanks everyone! I got another piece of good news yesterday. We had a contest between the 8th and 11th grades to see who could get the best average score on the writing assessment. My 8th graders won, and they had more 6s (the top score) than the other group. Since this is the first time I've prepared students for the writing assessment, I was very pleased.

Congrats! This is wonderful news!

I for one appreciate hearing these OT posts - both the good and the not-so-good. As a true TKO, my kitchen project has been so all-consuming, maybe not always in a healthy way. It's so good to be slapped upside the head by real life news & events. Kitchens are well, just kitchens, afterall.
