I don't have everything under control but it was a wonderful day when I put a laundry basket beneath the small desk in our entry way. When mail comes in, I put all standard monthly bills inside without opening. I now have added a zip lock bag to the laundry basket and store all receipts/maintenance for the house in that laundry basket. At the end of the year, I pull out the zip lock bag and put that in my file cabinet for the house filed by year. The rest of the stuff in the laundry basket goes into a kitchen trash sized bag with a stickup label on the outside that has the year. I store the bag in our loft which we use for storage (could put it in an attic or closet, etc.) At the beginning of the year, I make sure the laundry basket beneath the desk is EMPTY. This location is handy because I can sort my mail quickly. I have two or three times needed to go into this basket in the years since I've been doing this. Once I remember I needed a water bill to show I was a city resident and could use the dump for hauling trash. I found what I needed within 10 minutes. I have added a second ziploc bag to the laundry basket labeled "Annual bills/invoices/records" such as when I get our health and home insurance statements, (can't remember what else goes in there. ) This is still a work in progress but I LOVE having a place to immediately file. (I have another small pot I use for storing tax related stuff that comes in starting in January) and since we itemize, I have a small box close by for medical receipts that are kept file yearly. (Haven't figured out where or how or when to store blood test results, etc...work in progress) Trick for me is to make it EASY to file immediately. I have a box for junk mail that I use for tossing, don't even open. Then I take whole box (when it fills up) to Office Max store where they charge modest amount to shred. I don't even have to keep a shredder anymore. As a result of this thread, I think I will change and find a new "Pot" for "IMPORTANT" and save and store on a yearly basis and don't throw away periodically. I think filiing immediately and trying to avoid sorting until you must find something is a good strategy. As a result of remodeling, I will have a new fairly nice sized closet near the entry way. I plan to put my "pots" in there. However, I don't think I will move the laundry basket. It has been such a life-saviour, I don't want to mess with a good thing.

A fax doesn't always have to be set to receive and a dedicated line is not REQUIRED, however if you have need to receive faxes 24/7 and not be there to attend to it if you use the phone line for other things, then a dedicated line is more important. If you simply need to send and/or receive a fax on occasion, then your current line will work. You could even use fax software on your computer to fax. This was my preferred method when I'd prepare letters, contracts, reports, etc on the computer, then fax it out of the computer and receive faxes into the computer and use my printer to print them out rather than use the thermal paper that many faxes use or an inkjet, etc. Once I started needing to fax other peoples' forms that needed to be filled in and the like I bought a cheap standalone fax machine to send them (rather than scan them into the computer and fax it out of the PC and still receive them on the computer. There's also email to fax and fax to email services available. For a while I had a "fax number" and then it converted the fax to an email and emailed it to me. I did a few sending faxes over the internet too. For the unit. The combination units, called 4in1 when it has fax, scan, print and copy capability (a 3in1 doesn't have the fax ability) and they can be a flatbed scanner or a sheetfed scanner (similar to a conventional fax machine. Sheetfed are handier if you send multiple pages regularly. This is why I bought a fax machine (new for about $16) when I had to send multiple pages. The units normally will have a built in phone so you can use it as a regular phone - thus eliminating the plug/unplug all the time. There's a setting to sense fax receiving and it can be off and if you hear the fax tone, just hit receive and it'll receive the fax. Or you can set the fax to pick up after, say 5 rings as long as a voicemail or answering machine doesn't pick it up. There's machines and software that will sense whether it's a voice call or fax and adjust accordingly. If it hears the tone it'll work like a fax and receive it. If it doesn't get the fax tone it'll work like a voicemail/answering machine. There's a number of options, depending on need and budget.

OK, just got GF on phone & there is lot you can do with this. June Tailor.com is where you can find the June TailorComputer Printer Fabric . It come in a 10 pkg. for $10.99 but if you get 50% coupon it is reasonable. This 1 takes high heat to set the pic. so you might try her Colorfast Inkjet fabric sheets you also press to set ink but this 1 is washable 10 sheets for $25 so use a coupon. Some of this is usable with fusable web & some is sew on. The 3rd 1 is by people that make labels Avery, they make sheet protectors, dividers for school kids etc. With Avery you get 24 iron on t shirt transfers. So you can go to their website too. I remember GF had a book on this & there were fresh flowers with a little doily & pearl necklace nicely displayed & that was going to be used for Anniversary announcement. Victorian paper girl from magazine with fresh flowers, just great stuff!! Hope this helps!! Can put on pillows,quilt piece etc. It's why I wanted the scanner to begin with, I forgot. Shaddy: You should be able to download the installation program here: https://www.malwarebytes.org To uninstall the program because it was causing trouble, I went from Start>Control Panel >Programs and Features, and then found Malwarebytes in the list of programs and clicked on its name to select it, at which point a row of possible things to do appeared up above the list. One of them was Uninstall, so I clicked on that to uninstall the program. I am running Windows 7 and your PC's operating system may do things a bit differently so far as the names of things are concerned, but the general idea is to use the Control Panel to uninstall programs. In my case, it was a bit more complicated than that, because Windows said it couldn't uninstall Malwarebytes as something was missing. To fix that, I downloaded a new copy of its installation software and installed that, then I was able to uninstall the whole thing. I have been too busy to reinstall and try using it again, but expect to get around to doing that today. And I sure hope those nagging pop-ups will have disappeared. If not, I guess my only option will be to keep uninstalling the program and reinstalling it from time to time as needed. Hope it doesn't come to that, because it's really a good program.
