Check out Brother Lasers , I got one last year (DCP 7040) and its great. Black only. I purchased a small Canon Pixma Inkjet Photo printer for the occassional photo/color pic I print.
Whatever you decide, check out the price of replacement toner cartridges. Some machines are horrible expensive. I get mine thru a Cdn company online

I have a 5-yr old HP laser printer that I love but Win7 doesn't support it so I purchased a Brother (HL-2170W) laser printer (laser printers only print in black) for $100 from Staples. It can be used as a wireless printer or by purchasing a USB cable. I use it wirelessly. If you regularly print in color you will need an inkjet, if not, a laser printer will work.

I have an HP Laserjet which prints in both black and color. Others do the same.

The cost of consumables tends to be lower with a laser printer. Most laser printers also print faster than inkjet printers.

You'll need an inkjet printer if you want to print photos.

My Brother's been sitting on this desk for eight years, now, with nary a hiccup. Been connected with four computers during that time. Last filled with toner 7/10/04. Newest ones are faster but I can't imagine better. Relatively cheap, too.

if you want one that does color and b/w along with scanning and faxing which is laser you need to look over at HP. Here is the link to their laser printers, if you scroll down the page you will find some multi use versions like you are needing. Most laser printers are just B/W and single function. I like to read reviews by actual users so once you find a model go to some sites and read the reviews, that link below also has review ratings.

In my opinion Laser printer are much better than ink-jet. There are multifunction, monochrome and also wireless laser printer.

I have a HP color inkjet printer (Photosmart) that does a very nice job. I also have a Samsung color laser printer. I use the inkjet for most things, like printing out grocery coupons, and most general photos. I got the laser because I grow plants, and the laser prints don't run when they get wet, so I can make tags for the plants. I can even put a color picture of the flowers on the tags. The pictures, from the laser, are generally brighter.

I always used HP inkjets but this time I went with a Brother laser that is both black and color, it is fantastic and it is a multi function does it all, scan, copy fax print and so much more, I got it when it went on sale at office max for a little over $300. But with what I will save on not buying the expensive ink it will be worth it. I would really suggest looking at this same one it would be perfect for a small office. My husbands company uses these Brother lasers and they rarely ever have any problems other than changing the toner occasionally.

OH MY GOSH it is on sale for $299 man I would jump on that deal asap! that is less than I paid for it, but their sales do not last long. They do fast delivery too.
I am not kidding this thing will do stuff I will never need to do but for an office it would be great.
I checked on several sites for reviews and this model had a lot of positive reviews.

Huge difference between home and office demand on the printer. My work printer easily prints as many as 100 pages or more a day; every day. The work product's demand would eat up a low end unit.

Any product should be reviewed in an office light not a home environment.
