How much did *you* spend on plumbing hardware?
Comments (15)I'm currently struggling with this. Our plumber sent us to Ferguson's to finalize our selections. Of course, the initial bid isn't what we want in our house. We've been told that at Ferguson's we will pay retail price for the fixtures (I believe there is a kickback to the plumber for the fixtures). Our plumber has said that if we choose to, we can provide our own fixtures and he will charge us $50 a fixture to install, but it is STRONGLY discouraged. If we do this, there they won't guarantee the installation, blah, blah, blah. I'm still struggling a bit with this, but right now I'm budgeting for the retail price as published on the manufacturers site. I would suggest going directly to Moen's website and look at the prices for the fixtures you have choosen. Add up the price differential between the brushed nickel and ORB and see if it comes close to $2K....See MoreHow much would you spend?
Comments (44)When we moved from MA to Tx, I went to the mall in New Hampshire and bought me a travel purse. It is a fanny pack thing similar to the one posted. It was marked $12 and to my surprise, rang up $6.00 on a half price sale...That was 5 years ago and I am still carrying it. It holds just the right amount...the keys, phone, checkbook, coin purse, cards and there isn't room to junk it up with everything in the house. When I see the purses that some people carry I just wonder what in the world they have in them that they might need just to run from their home to the grocery store. I will never ever carry another big purse. I actually have bought two or three purses since we got here trying to convince myself that I should change and nothing feels as good as the little fanny pack purse. I don't very often wear it fanny pack style, but it fits over my shoulder and fits my body so good that it is the perfect purse for me. I would never be sucked into the designer bag thing...If you have that much money and want to spend it on a purse, I certainly don't have a problem with it, but I admit that I could easily go and spend that amount, but it would be on something that I wanted and that wouldn't be a purse...but I'm not a purse person ...but a doll or sewing something so I don't think it's a money/status thing...it's an "I want" thing....See MoreMaster Bedroom Pics - Would you do Roman Shades?
Comments (11)I am glad I posted as I was for sure taking those blinds down but now I don't think I will. Have you ever seen the "decorative" drapes on the super short poles that go on either side of the window to "frame" it yet it is impossible to draw the drapes closed because they are all scrunched up to be about a foot long on a foot long decorative pole. I doubt I am explaining myself well but i was thinking in terms of this b/c I don't want to ever bother closing the drapes nor do I need to and nor do I want all that material. this kind of "frames" the window. I have seen it on HGTV but can't figure out how/where to buy this I will look into RH...Any other ideas or mind readers out there that know WHAT I am talking about? :)...See MoreEDITED! Would you replace the blinds with curtains or roman shades?
Comments (9)Tried to find a variety to show a few possibilities... This color palette reminded me of your room, and I think it does a good job showing that dark blinds can definitely work with white trimmed windows. I think the drapes work here because they’re not too light/in contrast with the walls, and they help repeat the accent color in the bedding. The sheerness of them allows for different levels of privacy and room darkening when used in tandem with the blinds. And, arguably, the softness of the drapes helps bring a romantic feel to the bedroom. This photo also has a similar color palette, but no drapes. What helps the white trim work here and feel cohesive with the rest of the room, is that the bright white is repeated elsewhere in the sconce shade the headboard. Good design often uses repetition and the rule of three (color, shapes, etc.) to help bring a concept together. A few other photos... maybe one will strike your fancy....See Morepalimpsest
