Kim - Won't have them for the summer swap, but I'll have plenty of all blue and all red to share, come the fall or spring swap. Plus Purple Majesty. Just remind me when it comes around. After the swap my initial shipment came in so my garden is like a forest of spuds. I ended up with 5 lbs of seed spuds in all blue. I'll also have LOADS of J-chokes if anyone wants any. We're still keeping you and hubby in our prayers. Stay strong! Doors are opening and I pray they bring a miraculous outcome...I know it's hard....but know you have many here pulling for the two of you. Wanted to post a quick update. As I've been posting, I've been experimenting with the grape cuttings, to see how late they would root. I've been told they have to be taken in the late fall or winter and I've been told they won't root any time but early Spring, before they come out of dormancy, so I decided to prove that to myself....I took a few cuttings on Easter, April 12th and they have rooted beautifully, but also took cuttings on April 26th and they are beginning to root like crazy too. I'm not sure, at this point, what kind of success rate the 26th cuttings will have, but they are beginning to shoot roots everywhere. Had a 9-1 rate with the 12th cuttings, so I'll keep track of the 26th cuttings. This was the bagging method AND I pinched off any larger leaf growth to force energy back down in the stem. They are now starting new leaf growth. Did the same with some new kiwi cuttings. Had to pinch out new growth from the kiwis, but they appear to be pushing roots. I don't know the success rate, but they all look good so far. I'll post again when I know. Oh bless her heart, I was in a swap with another GW'r and she sent me some REALLY Special cuttings. She started them before she sent them, so I walked her through the process, but she did such a great job! When I received the packages of cuttings, one of the cuttings already had roots over 1/4 inch long. If that isn't just amazing!!!!!!!! I love cuttings!!!!!!! I'M HOOKED!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR OPENING THIS DOOR MARK!!!!! If a new thread is opened I'll post some more pics... Oh I want to see more pics of others roots and successes. Hi Jeanne, There were several who sent in yukons, I'm not sure if any I sent in went your direction or not, but they may have been from someone else as well. That's so exciting that you have already had potatoes!!! Mine are growing like crazy as well and I'll have bunches of blues and reds for a fall swap...so I hope everyone wants some lol. Garlic is going crazy and so are J-Chokes - will have PLENTY to share next time around!!!!!! Here's a sad story that turned out awesome!!! Amazingly, bad circumstances with rooting cuttings can be turned around if caught in time. There was one cutting offered, of Night Blooming Cereus and it was sent my direction. The cutting looked beautiful and I planted it as soon as it arrived - with the method I learned long ago. It did nothing but turn slimy and had like green goo on the bottom and I figured it was a lost cause. So I pulled it from the pot and looked closely at it. I could see that half of the leaf was still strong, but the bottom just gave up. Out came the scissors and I trimmed away most of the bottom portion of the leaf, only leaving the center vein or what ever it's called. I left only the top green part and put it back in the starting pot. It has a new leaf now YAY!!!! So it made it beautifully! My dragon fruit also has a new section growing, which has an additional root growing from it. The new one is almost 3 inches tall now WOOOHOOO! I planted out my Candace grape, Concord Grapes and a BUNCH of Pinot Noir grapes. Also have three more types that were sent from a friend in another swap. They are rooting like CRAZY! My Zin is doing beautifully and a bunch of other cuttings are doing great as well. Not quite sure why, but the Civil War Fig didn't make it. Both methods I used to root them didn't work. I wonder if they needed end cuttings as that's what I've had success rooting on others. I have some beautiful figs, Brown Turkey and Celeste, from cuttings and was sent some more Celeste figs from the same friend as the grapes above. I walked her through the bagging method, which she did before sending. Upon their arrival, they had roots already going crazy! Needless to say I have some beautiful starts going! YAY!!! Kiwis are in pots and growing like weeds. If you don't have roots on your kiwis and only the puffy callus and the look of roots or white bulging breaking through the sides, plant them...fertilze them and watch them grow!!!!! For some reason, the roots don't seem to like light. They are extremely timid showing their roots and in the clear bottles, the only ones getting roots are the ones that don't show in the rooting mixture. I had a long branch of kiwi that I thought was dead, so I pulled it out of the rooting mixture and used it in a pot to stake up another plant....THE BLASTED THING IS GROWING NOW!!! I have to carefully try to get it out of the pot and put it in its own lol. Can't wait 'til Mark posts the next one. I joined the one posted above (Thank you Jeanne) as well and what a wonderful group to swap with. Can't wait til my partner gets her cuttings! I'm so grateful for all I've learned in this swap!!! And it has gone so much further 'cause I understand what is meant with so many other things with the verbiage that is involved with taking cuttings. I am able to understand the difference between hardwood cuttings and softwood cuttings and know that so many other things can be cloned with this method. I am not a fan of collapsing the frames because you almost always disturb the flashing and there is no way to fix it. This is especially critical if your home gets a lot of weather. My vote is for the second company. Just be sure they tie into your old flashing and use compatible materials (flashing and caulk). Follow the ASTM and AAMA Installation Masters guidelines and you wouldn't go wrong.

I agree...I think the only thing I would do if I couldn't wall it in would be hang a stained glass window and back light it (from both sides if possible). It would help to see some photos from each side and taken from farther back to get a better perspective. This is too busy, but just to show how it could look if you could fill the space with glass. If stained glass is beyond your budget, maybe have a piece of glass cut to fit and cover it with stained glass window film? this is film: Maybe with dividers kind of like this (see link)?
