Can you recommend a closet storage system?
Comments (35)Autumn, we investigated in advance of building the walls for our closet, so we knew that 4 of the large units would fit (since you're building, you could do the same). As far as the exact design, we did it at the store with an associate's help. We have 5 short hanging sections, one section with all shelves above a short hanging sections, two sets of 5 drawers each, and some extra shelves where we could fit them. We actually measured what we needed in advance, although I will say I forgot to account for the [very few] long hanging items I have (a few dresses, even though I hardly wear dresses). I'm not going to modify the closet, I'll just hang those elsewhere. One thing you should know is that there is one color that you have to order (we couldn't wait for it - called something like "whitewashed oak" or "driftwood" or "weathered" I can't remember). We just got birch. We paid to have someone else put them together, and the whole thing including delivery and assembly was less than $1500....See MoreAny recommendations for a pod coffeemaker?
Comments (13)I would say that for his needs, a Keurig is the way to go. I just don't think they are right for everyone unless you don't care about a budget. But for your son, that would definitely be the way to go. I'd go with the one cup but that has 3 cup size settings so he can decide how strong to make his cup. I'd go with Keurig just because of the availability of the pods. For someone like me and many people that goes through a pot a day between my husband and I...it just would not be practical at all. Coffee is already through the roof $$$!...See MoreCloset organizer
Comments (6)I wish I could afford a higher level, but I've only ever used Ikea and ClosetMaid. ClosetMaid (a long time ago) was at Home Depot. Probably their less-expensive line. I recall using an online planner on various websites. People speak very highly of Elfa systems, though I've never tried that. Costco has a closet system vendor. I think it pays to really, really evaluate what you keep in the closet, and plan for exactly that. I have almost only casual clothes, so I would prefer drawers up to chest height, and then shelves above, with maybe only 5-8 inches of hanging space and none that goes floor to ceiling. So I would do a hanging bar up high, and then one lower, but only 6-8" in width. Any dresses that I have could be arranged over the hanger and wouldn't need to hang down all the way. I am also a very big fan of Ikea. I did do a Pax system once in my son's closet, and I liked it very much. That was some time ago, and they may have re-named that system. But they had so many accessories, and handy storage ideas. They also had someone in the store who could help you, if you're there on a day when they're not busy. I recall that their online planner was very nice and user friendly, and it's probably even better now. Ikea is so diy friendly, too. I'm pretty familiar with their tools and instructions, so I guess I recommend that if you're on a budget. Their drawers slide really, really well, and my son's system has held up great for approximately 10 years....See MoreRecommendations on a home alarm company? Anyone but Telus pls
