2 different colors of countertops in new kitchen, anyone do that?

Hi! This is my first time posting on here, but have used lots of advice I have read from here as we are building our new house.
For the kitchen, I am going with a shaker style warm white cabinet, but thinking of going with 2 different colors of quartz that I found. I have a L-shaped kitchen on the perimeter with a huge island in the middle (8'7" X 42"). For the perimeter, I would like to use a chocolate brown glass subway tile for the back splash with Seleno color quartz (its white with brown spots), then use Sechura Mocha quartz on the island (its all brown with sparkles). I am going with a chocolate oak wood floor and white trim.
Has anyone else used 2 different color countertops with white cabinets? Any pictures? I hear of people using 2 different color of cabinets, but not so much countertops.

It's not uncommon at all. I even did it in a tiny kitchen and I think it looked okay (nobody told me otherwise at least!).

Usually the island is a different color and/or material but sometimes it's an attached baking zone.

I have an l shaped kitchen with large island (8' x 5') and I plan to use soap stone perimeter and carrera marble for the island. I am also going with white cabinets. If you search on houzz or pintrest you will see lots of examples of two counter top materials. I know someone posted that you want the majority of your counter top to be in one color so if your island is really close to your perimeter square footage it might not look right.

Here ya go! The knobs on the bottom lazy susan area bother me, as the others are all handles around it. I like them on the sink cabs though. I like the knobs on the uppers to the right of the sink. Are there two cabs to the left of the sink that there could be knobs on also? So it would be the uppers flanking the sink and the lowers beneath the sink? Is that a narrow cab or a pull out drawer to the left of the stove?

None of it is stone, but...We have stainless and laminate on our perimeters, both at 2 1/4"...We put wood on the island at 3+". I think that, especially, with 2 different materials, even if both stone, you can get away with something a little different on the island. Here is a link that might be useful: My kitchen pics

I posted these pics for "Igloo" on another message, but I wanted to show the colors of our island and cabinets to those who have been so helpful to me (& anyone else who is interested). The darker gray is for the island and the lighter one is for the rest of the kitchen cabs. So, we are getting close to deciding on using "Black Mosaic" for the island and looking for a good compliment for the rest of the kitchen countertops. Because of you all, I have the confidence now to mix different countertops, but just need to find the one for the perimeter cabs. Any help is, as always, appreciated. P.S. This is the first time I have posted pics, so I am not sure how to get them smaller, sorry.

Based on the layout, you would never be viewing the islands side by side as shown in the first two photos. It looks like the darker countertop is mainly to differentiate the eating area. I'd think about whether you want it to be light or dark as you sit there, and base the decision on that. Black will show crumbs. I wouldn't go with gray as that would introduce a 4th color in addition to the white, black, and wood scheme you have. Either stay with it as is, or make all the countertops the lighter option.

I think it is a great idea when you have two isolated areas. Since you have the island, i would do it. It is often seen where people use perimeter in white and island in wood tones.

We're doing one granite on the perimeter and another on the island. I think that is really common.

It's pretty common - I actually have 3 different counters. I have white macabus on the perimeter and soapstone on the island. All white cabinetry.
On the wall behind the island I have a 10' long serving area of base cabinets in a high gloss grey with Caesarstone Raven as the countertop. The grey of the cabinet matches the grey of the Raven so it looks very cohesive.
