Hmm, not quite what I expected
Comments (10)So the sun still makes a difference. I took the pic in overcast conditions & thought that was enough to make it work, apparently not. So the crack of dawn & right before the sunsets is the best. Purple dls are weird. I can take pics of my other plants in those conditions w/o the white paper & have them come true. No wonder people are all messed up about purples. It truly is a beautiful color & just wish I could get a good pic of it. It is just settling in here & yes, all of these are new this spring. I got them off the LA last fall from the best seller I have run across to date. Dbl the fans, came with scapes, great bonus! I will buy from him over & over! This is the 3rd or 4th bloom now & know it will get better. I am so excited about that green edge! Ruby Border is interesting. So they all take heat to get like that, huh? Even the other varieties such as Beautiful Edgings, Alicia Rose Kissed, Seal of Approval etc.? I don't have those but I do have Crimson Edgings & Pacific Coast & wonder if they will be the same? I guess I can see how RB would have a tendency to be like that. We'll see what happens when it gets warmer here. Walking In Beauty has the veiny look where those wrinkles are. Is that normal? I have Lime Frost that exhibits that & can't stand it because of it. I really like the rubbery looking dls aka heavy substance. So yours doesn't show that on a regular basis?...See MoreWhat can we expect to feel with new shower fixtures?
Comments (4)In my new bathroom I have the exact same setup you will have. I didn't use the handheld previously to the remodel, but I'm not sure it will change much from your old to the new. As for your other questions -- The 5-inch overhead does feel less powerful. It still sprays well, and it IS in a larger diameter circle, but the spray is weaker - somewhere between what I imagine a rain shower and a normal showerhead would be...maybe more towards the "normal" side of things. I see absolutely no change in their original pressure when I turn them both on together. What does happen, though, is that for some reason my handheld (which is set to the "1" position, if that matters?) will get more of the hot water when both are on, and so there is a slight difference in temp between the two sources. It's not like a freezing/burning difference - it's still quite comfortable, just kind of strange. Oh, and a note - we have excellent water pressure at my house. This might affect how the two sources function when running together....See MoreCabinet color not what I expected
Comments (6)breadandsuch, I hope your cabinets are not as off as you might think they are. I have off white/cream color and when they were installing them they looked on the pink side. When they were up I still felt funny about them. Then the floor went in and the granite. It took away the cast of pink and it came together. My cabinets are slightly darker than I would have thought they would be from the lighting in the room. But with time I am truly happy with it all. It was all so new and not put together that I got anxious. I was afraid to do the backsplash because that was dealing with another color and I was petrified it would come out wrong. I was glad I waited a little and then picked it out when I was more sure. So I really hope your kitchen evolves for you and it is not a paint color being off. Good luck....See MoreWhat should be expect for cost of cabinets
Comments (12)Thank you very much for your kind words! I love the kitchen, and I get excited every morning when I see it - and it's been over a year since everything was completed. It took me about 3-4 month to settle on the final design. My KD was a saint by putting up with me b/c I kept changing some cabinets around (that catalogue could also be a curse :)). At least we kept the general plan the same, I just kept finding more interesting options. The granite is called Tropical Green aka Kerala Green aka Hawaiian Green and I also think Verde Laura. It has specs in it that match the cabinet stain. And I love the green! The granite was class B so that made it much more affordable. I forgot to mention in my previous post (sorry, I was in a hurry) that the price reflects pre-2007 January price increase (i think it was about 6-7%). I can't stress enough the importance of shopping around. We really liked Decora so I got a list of local dealers in the area from the Decora site, and all were offering different % off the list price. The most expensive cabinets were from "do it all" kind of places. You should insist on getting a complete breakdown of the quote, because you may find it shocking what a small "specialty" cabinet may cost. It really helps to see piece by piece quote. Also, glass fronts tend to be very expensive so sometimes people order just the door that is ready for a glass insert and get the glass in a specialty shop for a fraction. Braydon Manor is a great choice!!! there's a recent thread on decora cabinets (2 days back at the most), perhaps more people can share their costs. Good luck with your journey!...See Moreccoombs1
