Replacing cedar siding any recommendations

We have a 8 year old home and I hate the cedar siding not for its looks but for maintenance, and pest problems. We have pressure washed and sealed it once a few years back but it looks like it needs it again. Also the bees and woodpeckers won't leave it alone. I think I will just take it off and replace it with something else when I do my new master bedroom addition. I have been thinking about stone or the immitation stone since I have been told brick is not an option (no footer for it). I don't want anything I have to maintain again. This being said does anyone have recommendations or products I should consider. Keep in mind the poured cement foundation (full basement) will be covered with stone at least.
