The adult beetles you found don't do any damage to plants. It's their larvae or grubs that do the munching. If you dig up more than about six white grubs per square foot, control may be needed. Choose selective, least toxic, IPM-compatible products whenever possible. The microbial insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis and insect-killing nematode products that can be applied like insecticides have minimal negative impacts on nontarget organisms. The insecticides azadirachtin, pyrethrum (pyrethrins), and imidacloprid (Bayer Advanced Lawn Grub Control, GrubEx, etc.) are also relatively safe products. Each of these products is effective only on certain pests and all must be properly timed and applied to be effective. You'll want to apply the product you choose when the larvae or emerging adults are close to the surface of the soil. Adults emerge from the soil June through early August appearing about dusk and are attracted to porch lights. Eggs usually are laid in the top 2 inches of soil. The developing grubs will reach the final instar (third) in late summer and early fall. Most damage to roots is done in September and early October when the grubs are full-sized (about an inch long) and feeding vigorously. Feeding continues until cooling temperatures force the grubs to migrate 5 to 10 inches deep in the soil to hibernate. By late March, overwintering third-instar grubs begin migrating upward near the soil surface to feed. They continue feeding on roots (especially grass) and organic matter until May, then move back deeper into the soil to pupate. Be sure to follow label directions exactly on whatever product you decide to use.

If you do a good thread baste you should be fine working out from a corner. Pull enough tension into the baste that you get some light compression and things won't be able to shift much. I'll warn you though, it's hard to keep up the motivation with basting. My stitches started out nice and proper, but they ended up looking like I was taking shots of tequila with each new needle. Actually, a little wine might not be a bad idea. ;) I basted by taping onto my hardwood floor and it's extremely, incredibly awkward, even with my knees padded. I'd rather have carpet! It's like a cruel pilates class. I wound up lying face down with two couch cushions under my belly. My back could relax and my arms hang down. Nest time, I need to rig up a couple of skateboards under myself, too, and maybe video the whole thing to blackmail myself onto a diet. Sharon Schamber demos a nice basting technique on YouTube that would work easily for a small quilt. The only thing is she talks about starching the back as a stabilizer for machine quilting--you won't want to do that for hand quilting. Much starch makes it harder to hand quilt through. One of my books talks about a well known elder quilt teacher-type who thread basted and PUT ON BINDING before beginning to hand quilt. She must have really basted WELL! Microwave made a scary noise

Just incase anyone else is having this problem of the loud pop on start up of your over the range type whirlpool microwave oven, I had this exact problem and found the problem to be an arcing high voltage capacitor. Well it wasn't the capacitor itself but the wires connected to it that was arcing on my unit. I had to take the whole cover off of the microwave to see the charred wires. To repair this make sure it's unplugged of course and discharge the high voltage capacitor with a screw driver. This is very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, so please do a search on google about this first if your not sure about it. After making sure there is no voltage on the cap, remove the wires from the capacitor with some needle nose pliers and use electrical tape or some heat shrink tubing to insulate the areas on the wires that were causing the arcing. I believe the main problem was due to the way they routed the wires on the capacitor so the bottom wire ran vertically right up against the top terminal of the capacitor which created a point where the cap would discharge as soon as the microwave was turned on. In any case by simply re-routing the wires so they aren't so close together and providing better insulation, you will never hear that popping sound again unless the magnetron fails. That is also a common thing to go bad in a microwave oven but is not the culprit in this case. My wife is still scared to turn the microwave oven on due to threat of a loud pop but it has never popped again after doing the simple fix described above. Mine actually started arcing so bad that it popped repeatedly and blew out the line fuse. That's when I finally took it apart and figured out what was going on. It works flawlessly now. There is no need to be afraid to boil water or create steam on your range. This was definitely a wiring issue from the manufacture. My model number is WMH3205XVS-1.

My nephew has gotten me with these every darn year!!! I always email him and chew his butt (laughingly) This year he emailed me a Halloween greeting so I was on the edge of my chair (you gotta know this guy!) I had to click quite a few times on different parts of it, kept waiting for something to jump out and scare me the rest of the way off it. It was a SWEET card with nothing scary! bwahahahaha I emailed him and said "ya got me again darn you". He still laughed his tail off at me! ;) Hope you find one CB, or I might have to email him and ask for one! LOL

Urlee- I just went back to the activation letter and clicked on the line where it says "After activation you may login to" and it opened with me being logged in and able to download things.

I did get in after I kept at it but will have to try again now. Do you have to unzip each one to be able to do them?

I have been out fighting the snow that came down all day.
I sure hope that it stopped for good cause I have yet to go tomorrow and shovel out a house I am watching while the people are in California.

Teri, I just got that sent to me in an e-mail yesterday.
It is kind of creepy but maybe I would like to see what I can come up with as an idea?

LOL Urlee - that's scary but good work.

Teri most of the tuts there are animated and there's also psp8 lessons. Once you join you could spend a very very long time doing the tutorials. I wouldn't have joined if you had to post regularly etc but there's no requirements apart from joining to get the info and supplies.

I did email Theresa (the group owner) & she seems lovely and very helpful. I just wanted to introduce myself and thank her for the resources.

Urlee - Yes you have to unzip them to do each tut and if you have XP and SP2 you'll need the patch that Buzzard told me about so you can read them if they are more than one page.
