Ethan Allen furniture... comments on quality
Comments (92)We recently spent almost $30K in Ethan Allen, Pasadena on a dining set and two sofas for our new condo. To make a long story short, the dining tabletop had significant flaws, blemishes, chipped corners and holes filled with putty. Don’t fool yourself with in-store samples. Once they have your money, you are stuck with what you get and no one takes responsibility for what has been delivered to your home. The accent pillows that came with the sofas did not match our selected material and did not include the surrounding fringes. Tiffany, the sales lady evidently had not placed the correct order according to our selected material. Despite sending pictures of our selected material to Greg the manager as well as Tiffany, both of them still refuse to take any responsibility and accept their mistake. After spending some $30 K in this store, they refuse to even replace $200 worth of pillows due to their own mistake. When you are in Ethan Allen, you think you’re dealing with a reputable company until the furniture is delivered. If you’re in the market for anything with after-purchase services and warranty, you’ll be better off avoiding Ethan Allen. Their sales tactics are just like entering car dealerships. Never again will I or anyone in my extended family shop at Ethan Allen. Don’t give them any of your hard-earned money. Horrible service, no accountability and their prices are very expensive. They deserve numerous negative stars, if any star at all....See MoreExperiences with Ethan Allen quality?
Comments (25)What a shame, but I'm not surprised. I'm very skeptical of new furniture. Way back in the 70s I dated an upholsterer. His advice to me was "Never buy new furniture. Find something old and sturdy that you like in a thrift store, get that, and have it reupholstered." He went on and on about how the older furniture was good quality and the newer furniture was poor quality -- and that was long before we were importing everything from China. Naturally, not all old pieces were well built, but your odds of finding an old piece that is well built beat the heck out of your odds of finding a new one that is. If it's survived for many years intact, it will probably keep going. That's one of the reasons I love antiques. Another one is that they tend to appreciate, whereas today's new furniture from most (not all) stores will probably depreciate....See MoreAny Recent Experience With Ethan Allen Sofas?
Comments (30)I am happy to share my experience with Ethan Allen Sleeper sofas hoping it will help others. We bought a Paramount Sleeper Sofa in 2013. In 2017 we noticed that the front pad that supports the cushions was bulging out (see photo). We contacted Ethan Allen and they said that because the problem was not in the frame, it was out of warranty. I looked at other pieces of furniture in our home and I noticed that the EA sofa, unlike other items, had a very “squishable” pad to support the cushions. We told EA that the sofa is seldom used (at most 20 times per year) and that my husband an I are not heavy and felt that there must be a problem with the design or construction. The final decision came in an email, from which I copy directly: “In conjunction with our warranty department, Jenn and I have carefully reviewed each of your questions and concluded that the sofa is up to our manufacturing standards.” We were told that our only option was to buy a replacement pad and pay a technician to replace it. When the pad arrived it was tightly rolled in a box (see photo). How is this soft pad supposed to support the weight of someone sitting on it? As I wrote EA, the sleeper and frame are “great”, unless one sits on the sofa. Not a good thing... for a sofa. And certainly not good “manufacturing standards” for Ethan Allen....See MoreHelp identifying this luxury renaissance bedroom set?
Comments (6)I looked at the Ethan Allen website & if it is Ethan Allen it is discontinued as they do not have the bed on their website. I have never heard of Sara Fine Furniture as a manufacturer but my web search shows some furniture stores by that name. I don't know if you are in that area but if it was purchased from them they may can help you. The info on the bed frame may not have been any help as many manufacturer get their frames/rails from a supplier....See More- 15 years ago
