Craftsman garage door opener will not close

After a thunderstorm this morning, I went down to the garage, and pressed the wall switch to open my Craftsman Model 139 GDO. (manufactured in 1996) Oddly, it took a couple of times to get it to open, but it finally did. However, it would not go back down. I checked to make sure the sensors were not obstructed, and they weren't - the LED's were both green. I tried to reset the unit's remote sensor, but to no avail. Led next to reset button is blinking 5 times in succession. What does that mean? Pressing the remote only causes the incandescent bulbs to turn on, if they were previously off. The power did go off briefly during the storm, but nothing in the house seems to have been damaged. I'm fairly handy, but not too excited about buying a new GDO unless I have to... Any ideas?
