Marvin Sliding door vs Anderson/Pella

I need to replace my 6' sliding glass door, and am trying to decide if the Marvin door is worth the extra money. I can get an Anderson or Pella door with upgrades for less than the Marvin door. I'd have to have HD or Lowe's install if I got the Anderson/Pella. The Marvin dealer would install the Marvin. How do I compare these doors? They would be used alot. I don't mind spending the extra money if Marvin is a substantially better door, just am not sure how to figure that out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have used both Anderson and Pella. With in the last year we installed Pella windows and patio doors. We used Pella to match up with other windows and doors which we had installed 8 years ago. Current Pella production does not even come close to what we had previously bought. In fact it was down right disgusting! Four service calls in two months and still issues.

If you can use it, Anderson makes a great french patio door which seals like no tomorrow! We have used them on two different houses. In fact during a hurricane a few years ago, the river came over it's bank and literally splashed against the door, no leaks of any kind.

From current experiences I would use Anderson over Pella any day. Have never used Marvin, but understand they make a quality product.

We had two Andersen sliders put in two years ago. Great product. Purchased them on sale from HD and had our handyman (ex window/door guy) install them. Saved about $3-400 per door vs. going through an Andersen dealer.

We live in MI, and they seal very well, clearly important in our climate.

I bought the PElla wood vinyl-clad. I've had these before for at least 6 years, and was satisfied with them. There are only a few cosmetic differences between Pellla's highest series (Architect?) and the next one down (which is also wood vinyl clad), but the cost difference can be substantial. I recently bought some new Pella wood vinyl-clad from Lowes. Lowes carries the next one down from the top, and is cheaper than a regular Pella store. also, if you can get a stock size, that will be cheaper still.

softgrey, I don't disagree with any of your assessment. I am not sure the investment in time to look at that window in this case is even worth it to be honest. It is not anywhere near what most would view as a proven performer. There are ways to phrase things that are less offensive and insulting. We do strive to have both folks present because if we can resolve all of their questions while onsite, why not pick up the contract on the first visit. Where we are located, crossing town at nearly any given time of day can be a multiple hour affair. That is a few hours of savings that we can put back into our day should both parties be home on the first visit. Again, I agree with you that to have that as a benchmark is fairly unattainable in this area. It is nice to have everyone there at once to be able to review project scope and selections.

The Integrity is the Wood/Ultrex combo and as far as I can tell, it seems to be my best quote. As for the Infinity, it's really hard to tell if their quote was good since they are the only Infinity dealer in the area. I'm leaning toward the Integrity strictly based on the cost difference. BTW, the doors from both the Marvin lines are for the same door; Integrity nor Infinity didn't offer so they quoted a traditional Marvin. Thanks for your suggestions. I need new patio doors. From what I just read, I would choose Andersen.
I don't want in-swing doors; so, I am debating between out-swing and sliders.
The doors open onto the deck and there is no overhang; so, there is no real protection from rain, snow, wind, and sun. Also, there are trees all around; so, there are lots of bugs and spiders that try to get in the house.

What brand and type of doors would you recommend? I am willing to pay for top quality.
