Does anybody have Diamond Kitchen Cabinets?

I am closing in on a long search for budget-friendly kitchen cabinets that are also of good quality and I'm leaning toward a white beadboard painted maple cabinet from Diamond, through a small, local vendor (not Lowes - we've looked at many cabinets at places like Lowe's, Consumer's and HD, but like the personalized, more direct customer service of a small "mom & pop" company).Though I've heard Consumer Reports rated Diamond well, I can't seem to find that review on the CR website. I'd like to hear from anyone with Diamond cabinets regarding their quality, durability, customer service, overall appearance, etc. We've been quoted a price of $6100 for a 8x10 L-shaped kitchen with a few "upgrades," such as a corner "super-susan," some roll out shelves, one glass door, and cherry crown and under cabinet molding. Thanks for any feedback!

bruins47, I had Diamond cabinets installed last year, shaker-style in Cherry with slab drawers. All plywood construction, doors and drawers are solid cherry. I have a total of 18 boxes, including a tall pantry with slide-out shelves, and side panels around my refrigerator. I did not purchase from Lowe's, but from another local supplier. I hired my own installer.

All of the cabinets arrived in good order with no damage. I was actually really pleased with them when I opened the boxes! No issues with the finish or construction. There was an issue with the light rail in that one of the exposed surfaces was not finished, but Diamond replaced those pieces immediately and quickly. One drawer did not glide like it should, and a new glide was sent right away. I think this is where a smaller, independent dealer has an advantage over Home Depot and Lowes ... my request for replacement parts was not lost in the shuffle and my supplier got them to me fast. Those were my only issues ... minor and resolved quickly. I had ordered a bathroom cabinet (not Diamond) from Lowe's a few years back and the experience wasn't a pleasant one, so shopped elsewhere.

Hi there!

I will. I bought the Wittenberg door painted white Diamond Cabinets from Lowes.
I priced them out in several places locally, but Lowes was cheapest, and we had a really nice designer working with us there.

I can't speak to quality since they are not installed yet, but I have seen them installed, and I have really liked how they looked and felt.

Good information; I especially liked the link to the blogger who found a vintage farmhouse sink for $75 on craigslist. Very cool.

jess tn- We have lyptus floors and ceiling on our screened in porch and really like the look. There is a lot of variation in the species, so if you don't want that look in your cabs, make sure the cab maker understand that. It's hard, dense, stands up to snow, mud, sand, dirty dogs and chairs being scratched over it and it still looks great. We finished it with 4 coats of Bush Oil, which is a soft, matte finish (we don't do poly). They're not cabs, but here are a couple of pics: Good luck- sandyponder

Does anybody actually have Caesarstone -- Lagos Blue?

I realized this is a very old thread but hopefully someone will read this. The below picture is my kitchen. I purchased this home and the people who sold it to us have no idea what color or finish it is, although we do know it is caesarstone. Can someone tell me if this is polished Lagos Blue? At first, I thought it is honed because it has such a soft look but have read somewhere that the polished version has less sheen than granite. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Baquinn, I have a different Blanco sink, but it was large too. I have the equal double bowl undermount Performa (33 by 20 and 10 inches deep). Fortunately, my GC caught the specs and so we were able to ammend the plans prior to fabrication of the cabinet and counter. We did pull the sink base cabinet forward. Initially this was supposed to be a straight counter edge, but you can see the curve we put in to accommodate the sink. I am happy we did. I really like my big sinks. The larger sinks are another favorite thing about my renovation. I hand wash a lot of items, so this sink has made the job so much easier. On another note, everybody's renovations have their fair share of setbacks and frustrations. It's never smooth sailing. It's definitely a process and it will be complete one day and you will really enjoy it! If a large sink is a priority for you, don't settle on a smaller one just for time. There will be more than one hiccup and you want to have the kitchen you really want because you are the one who will be living with whatever decisions you come to. Hang in there!

I've got a 12" 4-drawer stack right by my rangetop: I am amazed by how much stuff fits in these drawers. The top two drawers have cooking utensils; the third drawer holds two sizes of boxes of ziploc bags and a roll of plastic wrap; and the deep last drawer holds a bunch of pot lids. Bigger is better, but if all you have is 12", drawers are better than a 12" tray cabinet, IMO. Having said that, I don't think it would be appropriate for silverware. You'd most likely have to put the forks and knives in one drawer, and spoons ans serving ware in another. That would be a pain to go through two drawers every time you want to set the table.

This are the worst cabinets! Save your time and money and buy something else. We got ours form Lowes. They came with uneven doors and drawers fronts. A person came to fix them. The finish didn't last 5 years. I am extremely disappointed.
