acrylic stucco vs. integrated stucco finish

Hi all. Would love some advice if folks have had experience with this. We are doing a major remodel of our home which has included putting a new skin on the house. We chose to go with a smooth integrated stucco look and while we like the smooth texture we're not really in love with how the integrated look ("modeling" as the stucco guy describes it) has turned out. Could be a sub-standard stucco job perhaps or maybe we're just not fans of the way colors fade in and out and how it looks splotchy or runny in some places.

Anyhow, we're weiging options and our GC mentioned putting on an acrylic stucco coat over the color stucco. He said the acrylic stucco skin gives us added moisture protection and also is a bit more muted in terms of the "modeling" or color variation. I'm trying to decide between doing this and just painting the house with a coat of good acrylic paint. Any thoughts/advice?
