Farmhouse Sink- cast iron or fireclay?
Comments (2)I love my cast iron Kohler Whitehaven. I have the grills for the bottom and it looks as good as the day it was installed 2 years ago. The Whitehaven is also easier to install then a traditional apron front sink so it can also save on installation cost. One problem is that the Whitehaven is on backorder, possibly for a few more months due to a fire at the Kohler plant that makes them. I have always had a cast iron sink and like them. You should look at both fireclay and cast iron in person because occasionally someone will say that they don't like the look of cast iron compared to fireclay. I was also concern about the durability of fireclay. Many are very happy with them, but disaster can happen. Comments (11)Yes, I agree! The offset drain is one of my main deciding factors. Bocchi contempo did have that plus some awesome accessories which is what I liked about it. Kohler doesn’t have any accessories that I can see for the Whitehaven apron front as far as colanders, strainers, cutting boards that sit in the sink. I like the smart divide in Kohler but it only comes on 36” and I need a 30”, 33” max sink. I think I will do Kohler, I just wish it came with something that sit nicely on the sink for rinsed veggies or sponges if needed.... I sure do appreciate all this feedback, what a help! ... Now, I know it doesn’t matter for inside sink dimensions, mostly looks, we are having our cabinets built so we can do whichever we prefer but idk what look I like better, tall apron or short?...See MoreCrack in Fireclay Farmhouse Sink - Can It Be Fixed?
Comments (8)There are so many other beautiful options that don't involve fireclay if you replace, so don't be discouraged. I did a lot of sink research and settled with an apron-front workstation sink from Havens Metal and am so pleased with it. They can give you a custom size in copper or 316 stainless. Their texture finished are really pretty, and you'll never have to worry about fireclay damage again....See MoreFireclay Farmhouse Sink - Brand Recommendations
Comments (4)The Elkay Quartz Luxe is superior to both, but unfortunately only comes in a 36" model. I'd reconfigure my cabinets to get one. The color goes all the way through....See Moreprill
