Need help with refinishing pine table

Hi,

I'm a new member! I love this forum and am happy to be here!

Anyway, I have a pine coffee table made of antique pine that is untreated. It served me well until my boys came along...they have scratched up the surface with ink (climbed up the cabinets to get to it) and scissors. Is there anything I can do to refinish it or make it look better? I paste waxed it once but it didn't seem to make a bit of difference.

There is a furniture stripping place in my city but they said it would cost around $300, and I only paid $400 for the table to begin with. I'd rather do it myself, if something can be done easily by a DIY novice.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me!
