I also need help with the Craftsman Garage Door Model 139.53914D

Ok,The remot control opens the door and turns on and off the lights but the remote doesn't close the door!I've searched the manual on how to do this but I can't find info on it!Could someone on here please help!

Based on your brief description, I would guess that your photo eyes down near the floor are not properly aligned.
Does the door refuse to close when you push the wall switch? Or, do you have to hold the wall switch until the door closes? If you have to hold it, then the photo eyes are definetly out of whack.
Re align the two photo eyes so that they are looking directly at each other, not tilted down towards the floor or any other direction. It's imperative that they be looking at each other.
We know your lock switch isn't activated because you say the remotes will open the door, so the photo eyes have to be the problem.

yeah,the door opens with the remote and it also stops it but when I hold the button to close it,the lights flash and it makes the ticking noises but I use the wall switch and it closes and opens.So it's the photo eyes?

Your opener and remote use small 3 position switches to set the code. To change your remote to use the center button change switch number one to the center position.

139.53675SRT The cable attached from the tension wheel to the bottom of the door frayed and the door slipped out of alignment. According to the people that installed the damn thing in 1997, the operator is blinking five times, which means the motor is bad? $177 later the $15 cable is replaced and the repair man want's $350 to replace the operator. Please help me! Am I headed to Home Depot to purchase a whole new system, then to the liquor store for a 12 pack and a phone call to a buddy to come over Saturday and help me install it? Is the new Craftsman Model going to fit with the existing chain-drive bar and mounting brackets? Should I just rip it all down and get a Genie?

Raising the door by hand to waist and shoulder level does stay in place. When using the motor to open, it goes up a few inches or up to a couple feet and stops. When using the motor to close, it goes down a few inches or up to a feet or two and reverses, but usually do not go all the way back up in a full open position. I'm not exactly sure what else to check or logically replace. I did send an email to inquire through Chamberlain because I believe I matched up a Chamberlain model similar but I'm waiting for a reply.

To erase the memory push in on the learn button and hold until the light goes out, I am not sure how long it is something like 10 seconds. If you have a green LED then your unit is not compatable with security plus. I am not sure what the part number is that you need, maybe Don can tell you he is better with the sears part numbers than I am.

The photo eyes are not working or alive when the door is opening. That's why the remote will both open and stop the door, but won't close it.
The only time you can get the light bulbs on the motor unit to flash like that is when the photo eyes are out of alignment. Both photo eyes must have a light on and make sure one of them is not pulsating or flickering so fast that it almost looks like it's on solid. Adjust them so that they are looking directly at each other and also clean off the cobwebs and leaves that stick to them.
