Rotisserie feature of the Capital ranges - any good?

Hello! We are looking for a new gas range, and find our choices very limited by the one feature, that we all agree, we like: the rotisserie, that's built into the Capital gas ranges.

The things are over twice more expensive than the GE Cafe, that would otherwise seem satisfactory to us, so we are cautious to pay so much for just one feature. Hence the questions:

If you have such a range, do you use the rotisserie once in a while?
- And if yes, how do you like it?
- And if no Â why?

Are we right, that no other manufacturer makes gas-ranges with the rotisserie built-in? We are aware of it available in some Miele ovens, but we want a single-piece, rather than separate cooktop/oven...

Our Capital range was just installed and we have not yet used the rotisserie. However, every other feature on the range is awesome. It is beautifully constructed, and the rotisserie apparatus looks like it can handle a huge piece of meat. We also put in the Miele wall oven, but did not buy the rotisserie option. Interestingly, we still use a 40-year old Farberware Open Hearth Rotisserie that sets the standard.

my capital is sitting out in our garage so we haven't used it. you should really do a search over on the appliance board. i remember someone posting a very positive review of the rotisserie in particular.
also, i don't think you can compare the capital and GE; apples and oranges. the price of the capital is extremely reasonable when you consider what you're getting. again, do a search over on appliances. it's well worth the effort. good luck, whichever range you choose!

As noted above, maybe a liner (hood without a fancy exterior) would be best for wood integration. I have a Wolf Pro Island hood, and it fits my desired hood height under an 8-foot ceiling by using a 1-foot extension. A seven-foot ceiling would seem to match the hood (or its equivalent liner) without an extension. In any case, island hoods are intended to duct upward, so you either have to put a bend in where the beams are, or continue through the ceiling. It is too bad that the main beam passes close to the chimney that you want to center the hood on. A large, quasi-commercial style hood at the ceiling could provide a large enough capture zone while being perhaps less obtrusive. Besides the question on the chimney sectional area, there is a possible issue with grease transport through a normal chimney, not that it hasn't been done for centuries, but then the heat source was a hot wood fire. The cooler internal tiles or whatever are being used to line the chimney will tend to collect grease more easily than thin sheet metal ducting that will tend to warm quickly. So the same issues as with wood creosote build-up may be in play. Also, using the chimney forces you to use an internal blower at the hood, rather than an external blower on the roof or exterior wall. We use this range in our store. I agree with ChefKev about not opening the door to many times, however I am not sure if you will get an accurate reading leaving the temp in the bird. Also the real heat only comes from the broiler not the oven cavity itself, although heat in the cavity does contribute to cooking If we were to cook 2 x chickens side by side your looking around 35 - 40 mins. we use an instant read thermometer to test temp. Stop the chicken going around with the its back to the broiler NEVER stop it with the meat close to the broiler or you will burn the breast while you are testing the temp. Put a sheet an on the floor of the oven to make clean up easier. If you hit the link below you can see our first attempt at Chicken and beef. things we did wrong the first time 1) never tied the chicken legs. 2) stopped the chicken breast up to test temp. 3) used a pan to high to catch grease and fat. Hi I just bought a 48" ILVE range with two ovens. What attracted me to the ILVE is all the great stuff it does. Each oven has its own rotisserie (at no extra charge) . The big oven has many different programs that I can use depending on what I am making. However, I've discovered I use the small oven for everyday. I can prepare a small roast on the spit without getting the big oven dirty. I made desert at the same time in the large oven. I am finding new things about my range every day. Cooking and baking is my hobby and the Ilve range is such a joy. If anyone else has an Ilve, please tell me what you've discovered. Maybe we can form a club! Thanks M. We use our CC rotisserie several times a week (in fact, since we also have wall ovens, we just leave the CC setup for rotisserie usage full time) and have never had a problem. How far off vertical is the post? Ours isn't perfectly plumb, but has never caused a single issue, even using a third-party basket mounted on the spit or using the fork spines to hold sausages or chicken parts rather than doing just a single bird or hunk of meat on the central spit. I don't know if this is too late for your decision but, we had a capital 36 inch all gas self clean range with 6 burners and rotisserie installed about 2 weeks ago and it is awesome. we have used the rotisserie 3 times. once was a trial run for a dinner party to practice cooking with it. We cooked a 4 pound prime rib roast for the trial run, and 8 pound prime rib for our dinner party, and a whole chicken for mother's day. The results were unbelievable. the chicken was fantastic and the prime rib was the best I ever ate even in top steakhouses like Mortons.
As for the cost, I agree you cannot compare to GE cafe. Capital is a quality range like wolf, thermador, dcs, etc. In terms of those, I believe the quality is just as good if not better and actually significantly less expensive especially compared to wolf.

Hi, check out the FORNO Gas and dual fuel series that are 30, 36, and 48" widths. The top of the line Capriasca series in gas and dual fuel have rotisserie and later in ts of other stuff

Also a really not ce thing is ALL of the burners are 20,000 BTU and all simmer, i like that they are the same so grill pans and griddles will have front and rear burners cLibrated tue same. Ovens have telescopic racks and have infrared broiler. Price points. Oven interior seems to be same as Thor Kitchen, Kucht, and NXR. It's an italian range based in Fanada and mfg in China. I have the very same issue as you and I have my eye on these, good luck
