Capital Culinarian rotisserie = problem?

We just purchased a Capital Culinarian. We love it - except for the rotisserie (one of them main reasons we bought it). We used it once. The vertical spindle jammed and the whole thing stopped after about 10 mins. Repair tech sent by Capital came (who, by the way had never worked on one of these stoves - but he figured it out). Got a new motor. But the setup still does not seem to work right. The problem I think is a design flaw. The horizontal rod has a grove on the right end that seems meant to go into the slot. However start the thing up and it climbs out and ends up with the point of the rotisserie grinding against the oven wall. Part of the problem seems to be the vertical shaft is not entirely vertical - which it was not on the original or the replacement. Any thoughts? The instruction manual is useless!
