Oh, thanks Spike. Just finished a few minutes at KT, and so happy to see this forum back again. This time will try to post more, as I hope others will, to keep this site available to us.

Haffie - who's 'retired' from lots of things, waiting only 1 1/2 more years for DH to really retire. He won't, but the "I gott'a be there on time" urge may be lessened!

Hi! Sounds like you retired yourself from work just as I did. I wanted to get a head start before DH starts his in another 1 1/2 yrs. Don't know if I'll be able to handle his retiring. Hoping this forum will enlighten me somewhat......Linda/NJ

Oh my! Thank you all so much for the time and the photos and the help! Sooo helpful! I went back and did a Hosta Library comparison of Elegans vs. Big Daddy, and I think Big Daddy is the winner. All but the second photo of Blue Daddy look like my plants. It would make perfect sense, too, since Big Daddy was widely available around here when these were planted, and they seem bluer and more corrugated/cupped than most of the Elegans I've seen. Most of the Hosta Library photos look exactly like what I have in my garden... the flatter overall shape, the leaf cupping, the corrugation, the leaf shape. Any difference in the Elegans vs. Blue Daddy flowers...color, size, timing? To be clear, I'm not sure when these (#1) were planted or what size they were when they were put in the ground. The previous owners did it, then we moved them and gave them better soil when we relandscaped the place two years ago. I'm guesstimating their age at 5-6 years, based on when we guess they put their other landscaping in. I'm not sure what size the plants were when they planted them. I do think #1 is Frances Williams. (This is the one that I planted/potted last year, taking a very large chunk from a mature hosta.) Since posting, four more leaves have developed that edge burn. I tucked it even further into the shade, but I'm still noticing the burn. Colors-wise, they look more like your photos of OBL, frogged. With the burn, though, that's basically telling me they're FW, right? Goodness, though.... if #2 is Big Daddy, I may have to rethink where I have them. I didn't realize they would get quite that big. I'll have to put some thought into it, because right now I have a set of three off each side of our walkway-- the main plants you see as you walk toward our house. I feel really foolish not looking into whether they were Big Daddy. Some time ago someone local said Big Daddy was difficult to grow and took forever to mature, so I figured there was no way the former owners (not gardeners at all) would have had eight happy Big Daddy hostas. Heck, *I* even had a young Big Daddy and gave it away because it seemed to be taking forever to do anything. And josephine... your Hadspen Blue is *beautiful*. Someone recently gave me Blue Jay, and I'm trying to figure out where to put it in the landscape so I can see it often and appreciate the color... how do Hadspen and Blue Jay compare, blue-wise? I love that color.

Mayflowers, I'm so sorry-I just saw this question! I updated my alert preferences but I never get email alerts. The pullout access is fine-I'm only using the middle 9" right now and it has drinks in it-tea bags, hot chocolate and cider packets, a box of Caprisuns...I just haven't had anything to put in the other two yet. Well the top one doesn't have a pullout-I do own a pullout for it but it was just too high for me. I may put it in someday though. Here are some updated pictures, THANK YOU to everyone for your help. It's incredibly functional and fun to cook in. The walkways are very wide and I'm really happy with the decision to put the dishwasher to the left of the sink and the trash pullout on the right. I'm waiting for the correct size window grids for the window sink as part of my punch list-so please ignore those! The microwave, toaster oven, keurig, and kitchenaid mixer ate in the walkin pantry next to the kitchen. Love having all of that out of the way and my family hasn't complained (too much) about having them tucked in there. It helps that there's a huge picture window in the pantry :). Sorry these are dark… It's a little overcast today.

Hi again , I was here in 2014 looking to source some f2 upwards seeds for Santa sweet tomatoes as they're not available here in U.K. and neither are the fruits so I can't save my own. A member called Betsy very kindly sent me some which I grew successfully but this year they didn't germinate so maybe I didn't store them properly, so here I am again asking my colonial cousins to help me out with saved seeds from Santa sweet tomatoes. I can pay by Paypal and they just need popping into an envelope and posting. If anyone can help this time please drop me an email or post on here. Many thanks Best regards Mick

"They don't listen to me since they know it all." And they won't listen when you tell them what Klem says either. The corn should be cracked for best results but manys a chicken has spent their intire life eating whole corn. Free access to grit is mandatory for any bird,without it digestion can not occur. Don't attach humane issues to this and life will be easier. If you can't manage that,report them to authorities and let them handle it.

Just noticed this forum so I thought I would jump in and say hi. I guess you could say I am retired. I have been babysitting for the last 12 years and at my age I decided I had had enough. I just watch the grandchildren now once in awhile. So I spend most of my day playing on here.

Guess we will just have to keep it busy!!! I usually hang out at the computer help forum and learn a lot over there but it is nice to chat with others from all over this big world of ours. I live in WNY.

I live in Michigan and even though I usually hang out on the computer forum I don't post there often. I sure have learned a lot from that forum though.

All our snowbirds friends are coming back and it is still cold here. I feel sorry for them coming back to this cold weather. We have a cold rain today. Yuk.

It was 42Â° here at 5:30 this morning but kind of drizzly out now. But by tomorrow it is supposed to warm up. Sure hope so. I would like to get outside and do some yard work.

I've been planting cucumbers, beans and sunflowers this morning. Got up early so I could get it done before the heat got too intense. DH just finished planting four citrus trees in the back yard. I retired five years ago, but he didn't retire until last October. So far, we have not had any major conflicts, but we've both still adjusting to being together 24/7. Luckily, we enjoy each other's company and work well together every place except the kitchen! LOL

I didn't realize that if people don't post enough on the various forums that they would no longer exists. I will have to spread the word. I have enjoyed it and hope that it lasts. I think that all of us retired folks have a lot in common and could share and learn many things from each other.

Here I am again, and I did promise to post more just so that Spike could save this forum. Ha! You can see how good I am at my promises. I'm just beginning to look around my office full of 'stuff' here, and plan to start cleaning/clearing out things I don't need any longer. I wonder what some of you who had offices at home did with all these papers and books you no longer want to carry around with you as baggage??? What a chore!

Maybe I'll look outside and stick one more plant in the 'garden' rather than stay in today, though. And that's how my days go lately. "later" is my new mantra. Pretty soon it will be January again!
