x-post from Windows. HELP re sealing around windows and sill pans
Comments (4)I would try to get something in there like the dental tool and loosen it. Maybe brake it up into small pieces shop vac'ing with a crevice nozzle at the same time. If that doesn't do it, at least if you could drill some holes in the foam with a long bit to make channels, that could work as well. I think sill pans are most critical with brick veneer and stucco exteriors, probably not so much with lap sidings. If your windows are flashed properly, you might be okay unless you have brick or stucco, then you definetely need a place for moisture and water to channel out over the sill pan....See MoreSpacing around windows and hood
Comments (7)I agree about it looking crowded. I have my rangetop and hood between two windows also. Hood is 42". Windows were 24", and what shows now is about 22" molding to molding. Space between cabs and windows and between windows and hood are all about 4.5". My story which might help you: I originally had a layout planned with one 36" window to the left of the hood with cabs up against the hood on the right. Through a series of threads here on my layout and other issues, I was convinced to reduce my upper cab space on that run in order to flank the hood with smaller windows and to give the hood and windows more breathing room. I thought there was no way I could live without that extra storage in the uppers, though I re-examined my storage plan to make sure. Turns out I was wrong. This small tweak makes a huge aesthetic difference on that wall. Do you have a storage plan laid out that you might able to fiddle with so you could store some of the items planned for those uppers elsewhere in the kitchen? Giving the windows and hood a little more breathing room would really help visually, IMHO. :)...See MoreWall spacing around kitchen cabinets
Comments (3)Well I have one wall that is 25" from doorway. That wall has pantry planned (24" deep and also counterdepth fridge). So very little wall seen there next to doorway. Should wall on opposite side of doorway show the same 1" of wall reveal (Plan 1) or should that side be more like 3" (Plan 2)? Thanks so much. I am stressing little details. This is plan 1...See MoreWhere should curtain panels start on this window?
