Those with split foyer houses, worth it to improve?
Comments (2)I've loved in a split foyer for 30 years; my Mom lived in a split foyer for 40 years. In both cases, the foyer extends out past the house, so doesn't eat up a lot of valuable space inside. If you plan to stay in your home for many years to come, remodel however you like. If you were planning to move in 2 years, resale would be a bigger consideration, but in your case, do whatever you want to the house to make YOU happy! We remodeled our kitchen 7 years ago, and while the improvement might help to sell the house, I have never opened my favorite new cabinet and thought "Oh, the next owner is going to love this!" I do, however, think on a daily basis how much *I* love it....See MoreHow to style a tiny foyer (split entry home)
Comments (5)I don't think you need much -- the plant seems ok, or an umbrella stand if you come in and out this way. If you find something you like, then either wall is ok. If you need additional functionality here (not just for decor purposes), you could move the plant to the other side and put a little shelf for mail or whatever, with a small picture or mirror over it. Otherwise, I like the rug and I'd update the chandelier to something with maybe some black metal elements......See MoreSplit Foyer painting ideas and decoration
Comments (4)Agree with GLO, but would put the drum set in the "L" in the photos you just added. That will allow for a pair of swivel chairs right of the sofa, facing the fireplace. They'll be able to turn to watch TV. Hang art behind them (centered 5' above the floor) and art 5" above the sofa. You can paint above and below the ledge to match, or you can paint below like wainscot to match the fireplace surround. Color for the top should compliment the new sofa and chairs, which you should purchase before selecting paint colors. It looks to be well lit, but you'll need more lighting than just a ceiling fixture at night. Consider table and floor lamps with 4000K LEDs to get a daylight look with your task and accent lighting once you dime down the ceiling fixture.....See MoreSplit Foyer Home remodel
