Thank you for all your kind comments. This is a row quilt that I saw as an ad and used it for inspiration. I used the courthouse step block to establish how wide it would be. The patchwork rows are about 10" deep. All the blocks are 3-4" and if you look closely mainly 3 strips sewed together, cut and turned different ways. I was recovering from an illness when I made this...wasn't feeling up to doing much but could putter around with this. My quilt friends helped me put it together and get it finished for our annual quilt show. It certainly was no prize winner but was a good conversation piece. Now I am so interested in Teresa's scrap quilts and she has so many wonderful ideas that I want to make one of each. I look forward to seeing what everyone makes. Jean

Jayne, I'm not the organizer, but I'll try to explain how I think the classes will work. You simply sign up when the notice goes up for each class. Redwork is posted at present. The teacher will list the class supplies and a lesson plan. Then you get your supplies together, print out the pattern if there is one in a pdf file and be ready to start when the first instructions are posted. You can work on the project at your own speed and post any questions you might have for the teacher. I think we are only having one class a month with one teacher per class so hopefully it won't get too confusing. If you can post pics of your progress and your finished project, that will be great! Amy and others, You want fabrics of different scale and varying hues for the mountains and the island in Sail Away. Batiks and tone-on-tone prints looks better than really busy, small calico prints. When you have 4 prints that you like, fan them out together against your sky and water fabrics to see if you like the combination. Remember, you don't need huge amounts of any fabric....only a 10" to 12" piece of each or a fat quarter of each. Hints as you gather your fabrics: Hint #1 - those white waves on the water in my Sail Away were stitched on - they're not in the water fabric. Hint #2 - the "babbling" brook in River Bend was made to babble with decorative stitches. Hint #3 - look a the distant hills behind the tree in River Bend: one is gold (a field of wheat?) and one is a very textured pebbly fabric for a nice contrast. Hint #4 - those rocks in the lower left corner of River Bend were cut out and placed there - some singly, others in groups. You don't have to have "rock" fabric to make rocks. Have fun! Teresa

those look great! n look easy to do! makes me wanna dig in my scrap box! lol cant belive i havent noticed your classes before, definitly gonna look for em now *big smiles* ya know i realy do like the plaid with it, that pattern reminds me of the basket weave block pattern, so i can see how the plaid would blend in to much but i still like it! lol im workin on somthing now, just got done with my last block, 64 2inch blocks to make one lol i hade 9 now i gotta sew em together n do the border but i might make one of yours just for fun lol have ta figure out how to post a pic when i do.
