Are you quilting this holiday weekend?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I haven't done any sewing since Wednesday. I am making tote bags with 2" HST for gifts and used triangle paper to make 336 squares. I cut them apart, trimmed the dog ears, and pulled the paper off on Wednesday. We went to DD's for Thanksgiving and I haven't had time to get back to it yet. Maybe Sunday afternoon I will have time to work on them again.

Have you been quilting or are you still celebrating Thanksgiving and shopping?

Well, this morning before work, I finished sewing the binding on my November table runner! Was having tension issues on my sewing machine, so couldn't finish it before Turkey day. This weekend I hope to sew and get ready to mail my 3 blocks for the December lotto. Also want to cut out and start sewing my December table runner. I'm making 2 of the table runners - 1 for me and 1 for my sister, which I'll present to her each month, starting with her birthday in February.
Hope everyone gets some sewing/quilting done this weekend.

Bless you carolnv, I thought I was the only one left who had not made my December table runner! Or done any of my Christmas sewing for that matter. Good to know I am not too late...lol.
I still have to finish 10 casserole carriers for my cousins before the 11th, so I will be sewing on those this weekend for sure. Maybe on Monday I can get started on my table runner....
so many projects, so little time...sigh

Linda I want to see your Hungry Caterpillar quilts when you get them finished, my son loved the Hungry Caterpillar book when he was little. Sue I hope you enjoy your trip. I am starting to hand-quilt row #4 of my parents' Card Tricks quilt this weekend. Last week I collaborated with my good friend Christy and made plastic templates for a Kaleidoscope Quit that will be scrappy quilts for her and me to work on in the future. This week we are going RVing and will be taking a few Granny Square quilt blocks to hand-piece that will be part of a baby quilt I am making for my cousin's wife who is due this fall. I have a sinus infection and have started antibiotics for that and M-I-L who lives with us is sick with really bad back pains so I am on full kitchen and laundry duty this weekend. School is out and we are getting to sleep in in the mornings, ... all in all not a bad week, and I have the motorhome almost fully loaded, the bulk of it is done anyway other than just needing to load some last minute things the morning of the trip. I've been super busy! We have my family's big Christmas dinner tomorrow. So I have a few small presents to wrap; tomorrow I'll make fruit salad to take. Plan to make peppermint bark, peanut butter bark, and mint Oreo bark later today. I got the last of the big shopping done last night, now just need to work on stocking stuff. Decorated the tree last night, and put outside lights up this morning. Most decorations are done. Still would like to make 4 flannel pajama bottoms for the kids before Christmas Eve, but we'll see if I get to it. I'm also working on knitting hand warmers...for me. Never have really been a knitter, but this is a pretty simple project.

Linda, so sorry to hear about your SIL. I am sure it is very hard on your daughter - glad you will be with her. I am going to FINISH the last 2 months of the 2016 Block Lotto samples if it is the only thing I get done! I have month 10 cut & half way sewn. I need to pick month 11 and get it done. I have a couple smaller gift projects that need to get finished, but may not happen until next week. DS returns today from his work assingment in the UK (since May!) so we are looking forward to seeing him. His inlaws invited us to join them for Thanksgiving, so will be making 2 sides and a pie to take along on Thursday. It will be different not doing the whole thing here, but will be fun to share with the whole family.

I had to laugh: the colors (Hershey Bar chocolate) brown and pink were favored during the US Civil War era! What goes around....comes around! Today I will finish quilting a baby quilt that has long been a UFO - then I will put it in my Etsy shop at some point. I'm working on my second Kind Quilt, ready to layer it and start simple quilting. There is one Kind Quilt finished and another still in pieces in the bag. These charity quilts come with all the fabrics chosen and cut - all we add is the batting, thread, and our time. I hope to persuade my guild to add this organization to our charity quilt making/giving. http://kindquilts.org Yesterday I began to clean up/clean out my sewing room - it needed it!!! I found my son's quilt that needs the binding repaired hidden under my cutting table. I looked for this (in a black plastic bag) so many, many times - and it was right there, hidden under mounds of batting remnants! Can you identify? Can I get an AMEN, Sistahs?? Ha! Murphy, Wow, do you make gifts for your cousins every year?

No sewing for Christmas gifts for me this year, but I do have a Christmasy wallhanging/table topper UFO I want to finish - haven't decided which it's going to be. Probably should get it out and refresh my memory on what it looks like! Come to think of it, I think there might be 2 of them.....sigh.

Last night I finished sewing the binding on my snowman set - table runner, 2 hot pads & 4 placemats. And I'm working on the Quiltville mystery quilt plus a second Quiltville one - ocean waves. I dug out my bag of HSTs a few weeks ago and pressed and trimmed...turned out I had enough to make 18 ocean waves blocks.

I'm working on Anne's row for the Quilting Queens Row/Round robin. What fun!

When I finish that, it's time to complete a wall hanging for my stepdaughter for Christmas.

And then, if I'm lucky, hubby's Celtic Knot hanging will also get some attention in time for Christmas. Otherwise, it'll be a birthday present in April!

Yes, I hope to get a little in. It's not been for lack of time, but after completing the log cabin top in record time, I wanted to get back into the mood before I start the finish work. I have learnt over a lifetime not to sew (if you ca help it) when you are not in the mood, or you spend the day clinging to a seam ripper. I am not planning on any quilted Christmas gifts, so there aren't any time frames for completion on my quilt projects, other than my own gratification and the fact I am itching to start a new top and I won't until I get this one finished.

Working on my 2011 birthday blocks. Only 2 more to go. May get them set up this weekend and then it is down hill from there.
