Me too. I know I'll be curious enough to try three, so might as well sign me up for them sooner, rather than later. In fact, I made a block last night and was amazed, since I cafefully measured each section it was two inches too big. I remember some other gals had that problem and couldn't figure out what they were doing wrong. Well, I figured it out. LOL. I was using one of my fancy new templates with grids to measure and it has a 1/4 inch seam allowance built in. I guess I'll save the 14" block and make some more like it, huh?

I'm going to be in for 2 - now to decide on the blocks! Thanks again for hosting!

Calliope, I hate when that happens! I did something very similar on a Birthday block. I measured twice and sewed it up and it was an inch and a half too large! I re-cut 4 times and 4 times it did not come to the correct size! I finally figured out that the tape I had used to help mark the 1/4" on my machine plate had moved! LOL I was about in tears over that one.

Cathy, my three blocks went out yesterday. You should get them the beginning of the week. I was wondering, do you think a thread with pics of the blocks (if any of the ones who signed up want to submit them, not be obliged to) we've sent would be helpful, since this one is a quilter's choice sampler? That way, whomever wins, will know what all the patterns are without having to ask, and also anyone who hasn't signed up yet, will know what is already going into the quilt?

Why not just post a picture here when you complete them instead of starting a new thread? I agree that it may give others an idea for patterns. Inspiration is always a good thing!

I don't want to distract from Cathy's thread anymore than I already have. I get so excited about it, that I can be too pushy, and then I get embarrassed. Since she's doing all the work with them, let's let her decide if she'd rather have a different thread, or do it at all? I just know it's not uncommon to have the recipients have to ask after the fact, who sent what, and this way, they could note it all when they get it. Then again, it could spoil the surprise. Maybe people don't want a sneak preview.

Posting pictures sounds like a great idea. Or if one can't post photos, then perhaps just stating which block(s) they've made (or planning on making). Since this is for a Sampler, it may be advantageous to avoid duplication in addition to the inspiration!
And I think we should just go ahead and post them here as Kate suggested. Too many threads and it gets a little confusing and we can avoid the 'Here's the link to that thread' thing. ;) (Ask me how I know... LOL)

I haven't even started mine yet. I'm hoping to make a Hunter's Star and I have to look for a paper pieced pinwheel to make. I'll post pictures as soon as I get whatever I make, done. ;)

The one on the left is a pinwheel modified from the "City Girl" quilt in the Dec/Jan 09 Quilters Newsletter and the one on the right is Pinwheel #7 from quilterscache. My lighting makes the background look yellow - but it it is more cream colored!

I thought I'd bump this back up in case anyone else would care to join us yet and as a reminder for the rest of us. ;)
Aside from that, I've got one block finished and figured I'd go ahead and share it with you now. It's called Double Quartet. Though the original calls for 3 different fabrics, I only used two; the red and unbleached muslin (looks white in the picture).

I plan on getting the fabric cut this evening for my other block and will post a picture of it when it's done.

I'll be making 2 blocks, about halfway done so far. Hopefully I'll get them in the mail soon as I think the cross-border post will be moving at snail's pace as Christmas time approaches :) Even just looking at the constant lines in the Post Office is intimidating at this time of year! The photos that everyone has posted look so pretty so far.

I have a question...are we talking about bright true reds,or can we do darker also,like burgandys or maroons??

Caroline, I think the darker reds would work very well with the others.

When I suggested a December lotto, I hadn't even thought about the post office being crowded! Hope it isn't/wasn't to much of a hassle for anyone.

Well, the two blocks are done and I'm off to the Post Office tomorrow. I think it is all in the timing, hopefully I will miss a lineup! I also hope that they clear the border and get to you by the 1st of January :) Happy Holidays all!
