Goodness, December tomorrow. How time flies.

    1. Finish Xmas wallhanging for over the fireplace, almost done.
    2. FMQ older Xmas wallhanging with BD blocks
    3. Set up frame to machine quilt a top, learning process
    4. Start my Fat Quarter project, pattern/blocks from Quiltmaker magazine.
    5. Think about the picture of a quilt posted on my wall and should I make it.

Drink lots of mulled wine, or Gluwein if you're in Germany. That's my most favorite drink of all - except in summer when it's iced and called Sangria.

    1. Finish piecing a Christmas wallhanging that I have started. It won't be finished for Christmas this year, I'm going to use it as one of my "projects" for next year's quarterly challenge. I'm going to machine quilt it, which I've never done and I will also embellish it with beads, etc., which I've never done.
    2. I started Quiltville's mystery quilt (instead of the one I thought about doing that was in The Quilter's Newsletter.) I'm halfway finished with the first set of instructions....there is alot to do on this first part. I want to finish this before Christmas.
    3. Work on blocks for my other WIPs
    4. If time allows, maybe I'll start cutting pieces for the quilt my grandaughter wants me to make for her (Shakespeare in the Park. In turquoises, purples, and aquas....will use the fabric I purchased for the original mystery quilt I was going to do.)

November & December lotto blocks done & mailed! Pieced baby charity quilt - hopefully today will finish piecing the back and maybe get it basted. Need to patch DH's quilt from his grandmother. Found some fabric that matches pretty well but that old fabric fades in the strangest ways. We use it all the time and it gets laundered often, so whatever I do will be fine! Sharon, I did get a Featherweight, but this time we are flying to Mexico from Arizona so not taking the motorhome. Oh well ... I will get to do a little quilting stuff while we are at my mom's in Arizona. Usually I just cut several quilts for her and get them in bags with the patterns. She is a quilting fiend and does several a month for Project Linus. She doesn't like cutting (neither do I), but it helps her out. Love that Falling Charms pattern - have added it to my "to do" list! 7 Days and counting to the wedding - next Saturday. Family starts to arrive on Wednesday. WOOHOO. Mostly ready. Sue

My biggest goal for this month is to clean my sewing room! It looks like a cyclone went through and fabric is everywhere. I am also still sorting boxes of "treasures" a friend gave me. His wife died about 5 years ago and he is finally sorting out her crafty stuff. Not much quilting stuff, but 2 large tubs full of cross stitch stuff. I am going to pass most of it along - it is amazing that one of the large tubs is almost full of the thread! Big bucks there. If I get time, I will try to sandwich a UFO, but cleaning is my only real goal! Sue

Sharon I feel bad for your husband breaking a knee cap, that just sounds awefully painful. You are probably right Sharon, once I get a lot of granny square blocks made I'll probably be repurposing them for something else, we'll see - hoping to make more blocks in 2014. I plan to just make a bunch and box them up and then when I get time to actually layout the top down the road then will put them up on my temporary design wall which I can't leave out all the time, because it hangs over the cabinets in the laundry room that we use every day. I have fabric cut for 2 more pincushions and have 1 of them half way sewn. S-I-L said she would try to make me 5 embroidery labels for my pincushion project this weekend. I'm gonna' be cutting it close getting both of them done, 'cause every time I sit at my desk to work on them I find myself back on the computer. Thankfully I have all of my Christmas shopping done. Bev I would love to see a pick of your falling charms quilt once you get it finished. Donna your hand bells playing sounds like fun. Hope everyone enjoys their holidays. Best to you, Sandra

Yes, water can create problems! Our water heater has been broken for two weeks. Even though we are in FL, the tap water this time of year is pretty cold! We've been having "pioneer days" - heating water on the stove and pouring it in the bathtub. New WH is supposed to finally be installed Monday afternoon. Who knew it was so hard to get a WH replaced?! Goal-wise, I need to crochet 9 bookmarks. One is nearly done! That's my only real goal this month. I have two large tops ready to load and quilt so maybe they will be up next after the bookmarks. Donna

Goals for December? No.........I'll be lucky if I make it up to the sewing room to vacuum once or twice. I did connect with a machine quilter to finish off one of my tops, but she is busy with doing other people's Christmas gifts so I won't even be dropping that off until January.

Before it started to get hectic with the business, I had been cranking out Dresden plates for my next quilt. I am cutting fabric for #4 and I may play hooky and sneak up there to work on that. But, I'm not planning on spending any major time on it until after the holidays. I am already in quilting withdrawal.

I am not doing any Christmas sewing this year. We have decided to do a gift exchange and pull names. I only have one gift to get and bless her heart, I don't think the recipient I drew especially cares for quilts or quilted items.

OMG! I'm so intimidated by the quilters who say they have their 2010 birthday blocks done. Wha....????!!!??? Not just started, but DONE??? I haven't started mine yet. Yes, that's a true confession. Not even started.

So, what's my December plan? Well, survival is at the top of the list. Between holiday festivities, company from out of town, the neighborhood party that we host every December and going to work everyday, I think survival is about all I can hope for. I'm taking toolgranny's advice and plan to drink mulled wine at often as possible!

I did a quickly improvised tree skirt today with polar fleece and added a couple catnip toys to match, but that doesn't count as quilting. After the party on 12/12 and an absurdly scheduled business trip 12/14-17 (NOT my idea), I will have the rest of the month free. THAT will be my time to get the January birthday blocks done, get started on the 2010 Baltimore Album project, and work on the final border for the 2009 Round Robin. Until the 18th I don't think I'll have any time to sew at all.

    Stay sane, Quilt Buddies!

I have modest quilting goals for December since there are so many other things that have to be done.

    1) Finish quilt for work
    2) Finish 5 annual photo albums for Christmas presents
    3) Cook goodies for 3 parties and 1 fundraiser
    4) Work a lot to pay for all the stuff I have ordered.

I also have modest goals for December. We are going to DD's for a few days over the holidays.

    1. Finish the BOM from Block Central.
    2. Make a table runner and place mats for Christmas gift.
    3. Make lots of goodies for Christmas.

Tardy me! I did finish the quiltville Christmas Lights quilt top last week and last night, I did accomplish the settings needed to use Perle cotton #8 black in the machine to make the Scottie dog block!

Now, on to Dec: Christmas stocking for GS's new dog, backing for the quilt top and organize a bit in sewing room!

Thanks for keeping us on task, Sharon!

Working hard on 2 baby quilts that need to get done before my hand surgery the first week of Jan!! I would love to finish a Christmas quilt I bought fabric for last Dec!! And then I found another one I would love to do this year on top of the one I just saw posted on here!! Ay yi yi!!

I just got a baby quilt top in yesterday's mail, so quilting & binding that is first on my list. Hopefully it will be done this weekend!

    2. Finish a table runner I just began as a challenge on another forum. It's not due till Feb.

    3. Quilt & bind my 2nd BD block swap quilt.

I think I'll stop there. I have a lot of days off this month, but also lots of other commitments with concerts, parties, etc.

Just reading your posts, I can feel the energy just dripping from each one of you!!! We WILL accomplish the things that are necessary!

We WILL survive because we are stubborn quilters, plus if we drink enough of that mulled wine, we'll for sure have a smile on our face.

I have 4 more mats ready for binding....a concert and parade this week and another concert next week. Now, if I can just get warm....and to think, I was standing in front of the fan yesterday!

    3) Cook goodies for 3 parties and 1 fundraiser (1 party done, fundraiser goodies canceled)
    4) Work a lot to pay for all the stuff I have ordered. (got 2 extra days, New Years eve and New Years day).

GOTTA clean the sewing room and make room for Santa.

    Good for you, Beverly!

OK, so I'm ending up with 12 mats, they're all done except for one that needs to be quilted and bound and 3 that need the binding sewn to the back. I still don't have the other 2 doll quilts completed yet.

DH had his 2nd eye surgery today...we got home about 10:30 this morning and he slept til about 5. Guess he was still sedated. @:)

Less than 2 weeks til Christmas.....YIKES! I'm looking forward to the week between Christmas and New Years to sew on BD blocks.

Hope to get those mats and doll quilts done this week. Oops, have one more pillowcase, too. Down to 2 mats so maybe can work on them today and the quilts this week if DH behaves. He's having problems with this second eye surgery (he says it exploded) and is currently being monitored by a specialist in retinal surgery.....he goes back again in the morning. Dr says the lens is in perfectly that some kind of infection has attacked it, but he'll be ok..eventually. He's calling it The Lightmare Before Christmas as the intense lights used had him almost begging for mercy.

Hope everyone is on track better than I am....we're headed for the finish line! Have a wonderful day....

GOTTA clean the sewing room and make room for Santa. Santa is here and sitting in 8 boxes in the floor. Just when I thought I was making progress cleaning, one of the ladies I gave a quilt to sent me 6 yards of denim for rag quilts. How sweet was that.

Hope DH is doing well today, Sharon.

I'm finished! I think this is the first time I have finished my monthly goals.

    1) Finish quilt for work (done)
    2) Finish 5 annual photo albums for Christmas presents (done)

Good job, Beverly. You have got to be chomping at the bit to open those Santa boxes. @:)

We've had quite an anxious time....DH has seen an eye doctor 8 times since Friday. Two days he saw 2 different docs in different cities. They came in their offices Saturday and Sunday and they've called the house checking on him. We're blessed that DD3 was able to take him most of the time. Dr, today, reports we're on the road to recovery and things will be ok. Thank you, Lord.

The last pillowcase is made, one of the 2 doll quilts is done and 2 more kitchen towels. The other doll quilt is ready for backing and as we don't have to see a dr tomorrow, I'm hoping to be able to get that done....as long as we don't lose electricity from the bad storms that are predicted.

Unfortunately, I haven't done anything. I sew on my dining room table, which is in the living room. I had fabric laying EVERYWHERE for different projects, and a mini ironing board on my coffee table, etc. etc.

I HAD to clean it up because I couldn't focus on what I needed to do for the holidays with all the disarray.

But I set aside my last vacation days of the year for the week between Christmas and New Year's, so I'll probably get it ALL out again!

I'm finished! I think this is the first time I have finished my monthly goals.

    1) Finish quilt for work (done)
    2) Finish 5 annual photo albums for Christmas presents (done)
    3) Cook goodies for 3 parties and 1 fundraiser (done)
    4) Work a lot to pay for all the stuff I have ordered. (got 2 extra days, New Years eve and New Years day).

I can add one more. I have finished washing all my fabric (except 3 bolts that are safely stored away) and all of it is folded (most of it is also ironed). It is stacked neatly and awaiting a spot on the shelves. I may actually get the sewing room finished this year!

Sally, We do what we have to do for the well-being in every area of our lives. Hope you enjoy your vacation time.

WooooHoooo, Beverly! You've finished up the year on a high note!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHHHH ~ that's the high note...you hear it?

    Have a great week.....

My goals went berserk but I mainly finished December. I haven't touched the frame yet but mostly finished the Xmas things and am now re-thinking my next project. I keep switching pattern ideas and with Xmas on top of my household, things get set aside till after the 28th.

I send best thoughts to all of you for the holidays. Love them but will also heave a big sigh when it's over.

I hear it, but please remember I'm tone deaf. Just think how loud it will get when I find shelves to put it all on. Would you believe DH actually started scanning the thousands (I kid you not) of photos into the computer so I can get them off the shelves. Would you believe I have made photo albums/scrap books for everyone in the family except me. So now I can put them on a SD card and stick them our digital photo frame. I do at least have them separated by year, then by month.

When I posted my December goals on Nov 30th I said I didn't think I would be able to get to any sewing until the 18th and that worked out to be just about right. It turned out to be the 19th, but who's counting, right? On Saturday I shoved all the holiday storage boxes away that were stacked around and on my sewing table, sorted through the stacks of fabrics that I had pushed aside during Christmas decorating time and got to work.

I did 2 birthday blocks due in January and 3 January lotto blocks too. I searched through books and fabric until I developed the perfect border plan for the last Round Robin quilt; although I won't get to work on that until after Christmas. After not touching fabric for a couple weeks it was pure bliss to get back to it and have a couple days to myself. DH was out Christmas shopping so it was just me, the dog, the cats and holiday cooking shows on the TV. A perfect sewing weekend!

I thought I should check my goals that I set at the beginning of the month. I didn't reach all of them but I'm good with what I have done.

    1. Finish the BOM from Block Central. (I have the center finished. The borders are ready to be pieced together.)

    2. Make a table runner and place mats for Christmas gift. ( I made 2 tablerunners and no placemats.)

    3. Make lots of goodies for Christmas. (I'm still working on the goodies. I made 2 batches of puppy chow and plan to make a batch of Chex mix tonight.)

I got sidelined by the stomach flu last week. I did have almost all of my shopping done before getting sick. I am now finished and have everything wrapped.
We also had a death in our church family. I am making a salad for the funeral dinner tomorrow.

    Merry Christmas to everyone!

Hoping everyone had a great Christmas and Santa was good to you. I was able to get a couple BD blocks completed yesterday, so was happy about that.

I do not plan to continue the monthly goal thread for 2010 as one thread keeps me hopping. The Seasonal Challenge thread will be posted soon.

Thank you everyone for taking this goal-post to the limit. I think we all scored!

It's not quite the end of the month so I'm sneaking this one in there too: I started my Baltimore Album quilt and have the first block almost done! Just a dozen more small leaves to sew on and Block One will be complete! I'm pretty sure I'll finish it tonight.

Well, I accomplished all three of my goals for this month! Now I'm working on a miniature started in a class with George Siciliano almost 2 years ago (been in a box since the class). I also have a donation baby quilt top ready to quilt.

I took my final days of available vacation from work and I have this whole week off. I hadn't done anything this month (see my previous post), but now that Christmas is over, I have gotten some of my quilting projects back out.

The quilt I'm going to do for my grandaughter has almost 1500 pieces to it, and I started cutting on Sunday. I've done a little over 300. I think I need to purchase a little more fabric in a couple of colors.

I've got my eye on a few patterns that I want to use for the 2010 Wallhanging Challenge. but I have so many other projects started, I felt guilty at the idea of buying fabric and other supplies for them. So I committed myself to sewing ten blocks on other projects this week. Today, I've done seven.
