There's evidence that vitamin E does not help the appearance of "newly forming" scars, and may actually make them look worse. From this study: "We attempted to determine whether topically applied vitamin E has any effect on the cosmetic appearance of scars as suggested by multiple anectodal reports. METHODS: Fifteen patients who had undergone skin cancer removal surgery were enrolled in the study. All wounds were primarily closed in 2 layers. After the surgery, the patients were given two ointments each labeled A or B. A was Aquaphor, a regular emollient, and the B was Aquaphor mixed with vitamin E. The scars were randomly divided into parts A and B. Patients were asked to put the A ointment on part A and the B ointment on part B twice daily for 4 weeks. The study was double blinded. The physicians and the patients independently evaluated the scars for cosmetic appearance on Weeks 1, 4, and 12. The criteria was simply to recognize which side of the scar looked better if there was any difference. The patients' and the physicians' opinions were recorded. A third blinded investigator was shown photographs of the outcomes and their opinion was also noted. RESULTS: The results of this study show that topically applied vitamin E does not help in improving the cosmetic appearance of scars and leads to a high incidence of contact dermatitis. CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that there is no benefit to the cosmetic outcome of scars by applying vitamin E after skin surgery and that the application of topical vitamin E may actually be detrimental to the cosmetic appearance of a scar. In 90% of the cases in this study, topical vitamin E either had no effect on, or actually worsened, the cosmetic appearance of scars. Of the patients studied, 33% developed a contact dermatitis to the vitamin E. Therefore we conclude that use of topical vitamin E on surgical wounds should be discouraged. Most other well-conducted studies on this subject have had similar conclusions about vitamin E's ineffectiveness. People heal differently, so it would be easy to get the impression that vitamin E or another topical product made a difference based on limited personal experience.

First of all Colliodial, Nano, Hydrosolized, and Ionic silver, are different due to the particulate size, process used, and therefore treatment. Plus usually a formula of activated charcoal and several other ingredients is the appropriate remedy for the early stages of gangrene. At least not for topical application as we're discussing here. There must be some amount of evidence proving silver's ability to heal, considering it's often used in mainstream medicine for burn patients where major treatment is needed. Whether or not you believe these- or any remedies without research, is up to you. Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to prove these things in a fashion that's more than anecdotal. I believe many skeptics like you are very aware of the fact that since there is very little demand for studies on many alternative cures(due to most people going with mainstream medicine), you can use such an argument to your advantage within these conversations, because you know full well the request cannot be met. It's a wonder you claim to understand the many clinical research papers you quote though, when you're so averse to perfectly appropriate medical terms and simply call them buzzwords. I guess it's good that people here stick only to already proven cures for things instead of trying to improve on them, otherwise things would fall apart with that attitude.

We each have dermatologists in our own city and I have very pale skin and DD has a darker Mediterranean complexion. Mine was a burn scar and hers was a surgical scar. Our scars are now barely visible, and the opposite approach did the same for Sammy. It's just very confusing when doctors give conflicting advice.

I wash morning and night with … They discontinued my beloved cleanser … I’d used it for 20+ yrs and am still sad … Use this sunscreen every morning … And this oil at night (I keep it the fridge) … I remove mascara with baby shampoo — I find it’s gentler and works better than other removers. I’ve started doing ice dunks (ice and water in a big bowl) in the mornings, but don’t know if it’s doing anything skin-wise. Does feel refreshing! ETA: Forgot my favorite thing … Allison recommended these years ago and I LOVE them. I use them a few times a week. She shared a great hint, too — cut them in half to get more. It leaves plenty of product. I also dermaplane my face once or twice a week, I love the smoothness and it helps make-up and products go on better.
