Help Me Find a Chenille Bedspread for Summer

Our MBR bedroom has been "done" for several years now and I love it, but lately I've been wishing we had a nice, simple cream or white colored cotton bedspread for Summer. We had them at our summer house when I was a kid and I must be getting homesick now that it's summertime. I guess that a comforter and another bedskirt would work well, too, but it needs to be plainly colored so not to clash with the floral platform rocker cover. Have you seen one that might work? Here's what I have in there right now.

BTW, in four days, DD & fly back to Michigan for two weeks with my family on beautiful Lake Huron . . . ahhhhhhh! If I get any replies while I'm gone, I'll check back here when I return home. I plan to order something then.

What a lovely bedroom you have!! LinenSource has chenille bedding in all different colors. The Queen size spread is on sale now for $49.00 I couldn't tell if your bed was a queen or a king, but it looks so attractive now.

I'm thinking that I got mine at Penney's, but it's been awhile. I love chenille!

Bill, Interesting you bring this up. I grow plenty of lettuce which has bolted and gone to seed which I save. A week ago Monday I started some of the seeds indoors and just moved em out yesterday to harden before I try to find a shady spot to plant them and see how they do. Many lettuce varieties do not germinate in warm weather, thats why I started them indoors. I will let you know how they do, but, I will be gone for about a week and not able to water them etc, sooo I have high hopes, yet low expectations. Tony

If you want a beige wall, I'd look at BM standish white If you want gray, look at BM white water Lenox tan is very dark and saps a lot of light out of a room...not a good choice for your bedding, IMO. Sorry Dilly. As soon as I posted this, I knew that part was missing. I am one of those people with an undefined "look" but you could probably call it eclectic. The house is a 1920s Colonial but I have a combination of contemporary/Shaker style furniture, Mission/Arts & Crafts style, and, well, Pottery Barn style for lack of a better term. I keep thinking Sisal, but I have no experience with it and it seems to get lots of mixed reviews. This is not an area where anyone sits on the floor or anything, so "scratchiness" isn't an issue. And I like that look. Braided is an option; I just haven't seen one with colors that really work for me. Any other thoughts on sisal or jute?

We have a thin quilt with duvet cover at one point and the air trapped by the duvet cover actually made it as warm as a light comforter. The quilt on the bed now is a very thin cool one but it's old shabby and ivory, needs replacing! I have considered putting on a blanket and covering with a nicer looking quilt which just gets pulled off at night, but I'm not one to really make beds in the morning other than throwing the covers back up so I anticipate what would happen is that the quilt would end up laying in a corner all the time! I just saw some nice ones at RH but they are $$$, sigh. At least it sounds like white is the way to go, rather than a pattern. THe walls are BM Wedgewood grey which is obviously more of a blue and I love it, it feels so serene. Any ideas for art above the bed? I initially thought a landscape-format piece with silver frame, but have had a hard time finding something I like.

The Vermont Country Store has several white or ivory bedspreads, as well as some chenille ones, but most of those are pretty brightly colored.

I like JC Penney. They have some heavy weight ones that last wash after wash after wash.

LLBean and Country Curtains also carry chenille.

Reminds me of my grandmother's house....aaahhhh... :-)

Thanks for all the sites to check out! I'm looking at them out on and off as we get packed up for our trip on Wednesday ( Eeeeek . . . so much to do still!). I'm hoping to order one tomorrow or when I get back, just before the Fourth. BTW, our bed is a Queen.

Well, it's not chenille, but here's a link below to the white cotton bedspread I got from JCP. I got the floor length bedspread, not the coverlet and bedskirt. It's on sale, too!

Straitlover, I love, love, love that bedspread! I almost ordered it yesterday, but am still trying to decide if I want the cream colored one or the white with the white king pillow covers and cream colored regular pillow covers. There's just something about a white spread for summer, so that last is the direction I'm leaning.
