CL - all things come to those who wait

Been looking for months to fill out my master bedroom plan for the future Florida nest. I'd found these Drexel bedside pieces at Goodwill for $15 last winter. Got me hooked on doing a beachy Frenchy theme.

Trying to score a long low dresser for months. Found a few 9 drawer ones, but none in time, all relatively pricey (for my warped frugality anyway). I was resigning myself that this dresser would involve a long drive and upwards of $500. The painted furniture craze seems to be driving up prices of Provincial pieces. They do look so good when painted well.

Finally lookie what popped up a mile away - likely Dixie rather than Drexel, but that's fine by me:

The offer includes the coveted 12 drawer long low dresser - AND the mirror, AND tall dresser, AND Queen headboard, foot board and rails, AND two night stands, AND the dressing table/desk AND even the bench. In great condition.

All for $225. Woo woo!

Wow, I love it! I can see the beachy frenchy in my head. It's a wonderful thought, water behind, nice white billowy gauze dress, big hat....thanks for taking me on a mini vacation. Be sure to post pictures!

I hadn't considered tissue culture as a reason. On the other hand, think about the climate in Costa Rica, and the fact that many of these early daylilies multiply like rabbits. I have three or four older daylilies which were acquired in pots from Lowes and other such places. I moved them to a different place last June and somewhat ruthlessly divided them in the process. Result: fantastic increase. Rather than get rid of them altogether, I plan to move them to a fringe area where they can make a nice little display en masse until such time as I can afford to replace them with something newer and better. So many daylilies, so little cash. Sigh.

I definitely am planning to post pictures once we get the cooktop installed, alku05. Thanks for the comments, guadalupe. I am glad it looks great, but am a little disapointed about the wok ring. Oh well, I am sure that those 22k btu's will still wok up a stir-fry pretty well! I still haven't opened the box, so I don't know if a wok ring was included, but I sure make sure to check.

Thank you for this well written piece of advice. I have a few weeks of idle time, as I've (ahem, we, but mainly me) have picked just about everything out but the faucet, and are now waiting for the party to really start. I feel good about the major choices -- the cabinets style, wood, stain, and am so anxious to get Florida Joshua up to put in the soapstone. In this spare time, I wonder WILG (will it look good)? Or have I chosen individual items that I like? What if they look good as individual parts, but not so good together? I have to remind myself that my inspirations have been the lovely kitchens that others here have put together, either by themselves or with guidance from other GW'er's -- that certainly, it WLG. So once again, thank you for taking the time to write this little note. But now you've teased us -- can't you get your friend to post some photos of her kitchen????

In my head they are painted soft like this

Mostly off white with a little very pale pale aqua or blueor gray, may a little irridescent or pearlizing on the raised edges.

Can I say you SCORED big time loud enough? I look for the "frenchie" style of furniture which I paint/ sell in a local antique mall, and the pieces are few and far between, never a grouping! ;o)

Yikes, it is a lot of drawers. Three loads with a borrowed pickup. And it was a block away from my old house. Small world.

The seller had researched and realized what she had done. She regretted the pricing but was willing to honor the deal. I ended up giving her an extra $150 and some chalk paint to do up a piece she was keeping.

Still a steal.

You know what is weird. I have no drawers at all in my bedroom now. Just some bins in a closet.

And this is really cool - the 12 drawer has gradated sizing of the drawers. They get about a half inch taller each row down. You can see it on three center ones at the bottom of the picture. And I like the pulls on the center tier. They look like a key is inserted in an ornate lock.

Yes, I will likely paint. I am conflicted because the finish is in good condition, but I am not keen on the yellow and gold. I have time to think it over.
