How horrible

and I personally feel badly about this.

A dr. we used to take DD to 30 years ago has been censured. He apparently 'treated' a young boy by continuing the prescriptions a specialist had ordered--for years. Never doing tests to find out if the prescriptions were working, if the dosage needed to be adjusted because he was growing, how his body was tolerating the med, never consulting with a specialist regarding the case. He eventually stopped even noting in the chart when he renewed the prescription. The boy died suddenly as a result of this incompetant care.

The dr. was severely chastised, and his license taken away for a year. Then, that punishment was stayed because he's a third world dr. and can communicate with patients who otherwise might not be able to go to a dr. I've also heard of people who went to him, were made to pay cash up front--then their insurance paid the dr. but he refused to give back their overpayment.

Why do I feel badly? He did the same exact thing to my daughter. She had a recurring condition. He MADE UP a diagnosis (a condition that simply doesn't exist in any medical information I've been able to access), treated her ineffectually for it--for YEARS. He REFUSED my plea to send her for testing, to give us a referral to a specialist. We were in an HMO and had to get those things from him. Finally, at our own expense, we took her to a specialist at one of the most prestigious children's hospitals in the nation. The dr. CORRECTLY diagnosed her within 15 minutes, he ordered tests to confirm his diagnosis, he prescribed meds that actually worked and took care of the problem. Luckily--DD didn't have a fatal condition, but it was a very painful one for her for the time she was not being properly treated. We did look into following up/reporting this dr and were told that nothing would be done because she was never hospitalized. Still, it seems as if we'd gotten someone to listen, maybe he could have been stopped before he took a life?

This dr. is so unprofessional and unethical--he stole his education--his country of birth paid to send him to school because they desparately need drs. He then moved to America so he could get the big bucks. If he doesn't have an answer, he makes one up--he doesn't order tests or consult with a specialist. I feel so very badly for the family who lost their child to his poor care. and awful that people are still going to him, not knowing the situation.

Guess I was just venting--our problems with him were decades ago, and if the licensing board sees no reason to stop this fiend, even though he's killed a young boy, there's nothing I can really do about this. Just such a sad story.
