Visit a big box hardware store like Menards or Home Depot. They have displays of patio doors of several styles. Brouse these to get ideas, then search on-line. You didn't describe the problem with your doors. If these are balky to slide, it is possible that a little manitence will fix it. Sticky, balky patio doors are often caused by dirty tracks and rollers in need of lubing. Clean these up and apply lube to the bearings of the rollers, and you might be pleasntly surprised. Study the construction of your doors. Some models can be lifted out of the bottom track, then the bottom end of the door moved to disegage the top from its retainer track. Get help when you do this, These doors are HEAVY and you could end up dropping one, and or straining yourself.

Regarding SG panel mounting, we are in the process of selecting a SG craftsman in Portland to repair and re-install eight SG panels after the casement windows are replaced. The contractor we chose to do the window replacement mainly emphasized the importance of selecting a window that provides a substantial amount of solid wood and space/clearance inside to support the mounts used to hold the SG panels in place. I have no experience beyond that, meaning there may be many other ways to safely mount SG panels on other types of windows made with different materials other than wood. Yes, they are installing all the windows and the front door. My contractor, who is the one that referred them to me, said they would charge a lot to install the sliders cause you have to cut into the stucco. Since he is working with us on various projects, including replacing some facia board before we paint, he said he would do it. I have to call her today and let her know which hardware we want as well. She gave me the Emtek catalog and they have some amazing prices! I will let you know and post pics! Toodlse, L

Thanks both for the comments .. honestly the Veneer is probably fine, so long as the windows are otherwise equivalent. We don't have kids so don't expect a lot of scratches/gouges on the surface. Milgard does have a local showroom that I'm hoping to get to, but man their hours are inconvenient! Separate rant, what is it with the 'design centers' and 'showrooms' only being open M-F 9-5, and generally in inconvenient industrial areas? I can understand the latter for cost reasons, but how many people can take 4 hours off in the middle of the day for these trips? Even just being open a few hours every Saturday would make things much easier..
