Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams - what did you pick/why?
Comments (14)I'm pretty sure that our local paint store that carries BM, Pratt & Lambert, Yolo and Ralph Lauren brands is locally owned not company owned. We always get great service. More often than not, it's my go-to place for paint. I've also used Rodda, Kelly Moore, Miller and SW. Our home's exterior is painted with SW, chosen because I saw the color on a local home, loved it and the homeowner was gracious enough to tell me the color and brand. I received great service when I sampled a quart and selected a complimentary colors for the trim and door. However, we did have a problem with the paint job that began with a SW's mixing error. One 5-gallon bucket was slightly off in match from the other buckets. We checked the cans and the formula label says the cans were mixed the same way but somehow or other, they were not. That error was compounded by idiot painters who didn't know enough to mix paint from new cans with open cans. Because they didn't and because the paint match was off, touch-ups on our house looked like polka dots. The painters had to go back and paint the whole length of a board and we'll have to do the same any time we touch up. These same idiot painters painted our front door while it was closed! Yeah, we made them re-do it. Twice. And it still wasn't great. They then had the nerve to ask if they could bid on interior paint work. Over my dead body! But I digress. This was an isolated experience with SW and it sounds as though it's not the norm - that's good to hear - but it does make me hesitate about using their paint again....See Moresatin question - Kelly Moore vs Benjamin Moore
Comments (7)Thanks, paintergirl. Do you have eggshell on your ceiling or flat? That's my last decision. I have eggshell on the ceilings upstairs and like it. I really get to enjoy the Greenmount Silk color on the ceiling. But I am wondering about the downstairs ceilings...flat or eggshell. hmmmm I think they were pushing for satin on the kitchen walls because I said no to semi-gloss. I just told one of them I was going to do eggshell for the walls and he was fine....See MoreBenjamin’s moore Nimbus - purple pink undertone?
Comments (1)No, BM Nimbus is from the Yellow hue family. If it looks purple or pink in your home, most likely your lighting is very cool and is causing the look of the color to shift towards purple. You could try changing your light bulbs to a warmer/lower Kelvin setting or try another color....See MoreBenjamin Moore’s version of accessible beige?
Comments (10)A few things: if you went to any paint store that sold Benjamin Moore and you asked them to make you something similar to Accessible Beige, they could -- A few similar colors that come up in Ben Moore's color system for accessible beige are: 1. Inner Balance (1522) 2. Stingray (1529) 3. Smokey Taupe (983) 4. Ice Formations (973) 5. Litchfield Gray (HC-173) You can try those colors first, but they vary just a little in terms of their undertones. Benjamin Moore's paints are usually recommended by contractors because of their smooth application, their dry times, and the amount of coating you need versus something from Home Depot (takes 3-4 coats and is thinner). Revere Pewter is nice, definitely on the warm side and a VERY popular home color....See MoreUser
