Is there any way you can find out more information about the (floor) structure in your condo? Since your building is only 20 years old, your condo association (or your city's building department) may have records on file that could help you. I have the small Miele W3033 and absolutely love it. I'd highly recommend you explore that option first, especially if it fits your budget. Miele has installation specs online that may help, too.

The left side measurement is 164 inches from front of house to front of existing closet. Electric panel is inside the existing closet but the closet could be removed. The right side measurement is 113 inches inside the walk in closet plus 220 inches from closet to corner of room. So 333 inches. Just saw a mistake...the walk in closet is NOT 9 ft wide. The angle on the front wall is 9 ft long. Width will be less. And the arrow is going the wrong way on 9 ft 6inches. Anything can change except the stair's landing, the electical panel, and the bathroom. I thought about making the entire upstairs a separate unit with a kitchenette, small living room, and 2 bedrooms with an exterior door and stairs down the back side where the small window is. The upstairs has its own heating and air conditioning units. We will be selling the house in a couple of years. Since it has a gentle, grassy slope to the lake and dock, the upstairs could be rented out to people on vacation. It would either be a five bedroom house or a 2 bedroom house downstairs with a 2 bedroom vacation rental upstairs. I think if someone wanted it as a five bedroom, the upstairs kitchenette would be great to have with kids. The living room could be a bedroom as long as we have a door on it.

In the black and white floorplan posted above (11/12) is what i was referring to. Basically keep our current stove/oven where it is but take out the 2 walls of the pantry and put the fridge there. Kathi Steele...what "bank of cabients" are you referring to? Which "doorway" are you referring to? Since this remodel has rendered by unable to focus and therefor useless at work, i've been messing around on IKEA's design program today. So basically, this is the new layout i'm talking about with putting the fridge in the current pantry area (the software would not allow me to put a doorway to the right of the fridge shown below):

How important IS a private master bathroom? While it's not an absolute necessity, it's pretty high on most people's lists. The inside closet measurements are 2' deep by about 8' long. That is why we would need to steal a foot or two from our bedroom or the room behind the closet. You must have at least 5' of width in the bathroom, so you'd have to steal 3' from the bedrooms. Is adding a bump-out a possibility? That'd allow you to leave the closet and bedrooms intact /would certainly be easier. I grew up with three siblings and one bath... I grew up with five siblings (well me + four) and one bathroom. It was fine; I remember us squabbling over other resources, but bathroom time really wasn't a problem. Our rule was "Boys shower at night this week /girls have the mornings" ... and then we'd reverse the next week. But our parents had a second bathroom in their bedroom. My ultimate question is: is the juice worth the squeeze or can a family of 5 comfortably share one full bathroom over the years? You absolutely CAN share, even as the kids grow older, but I would much prefer to have a parents-only bathroom. IMO, way too many people today have fallen for the myth that a family needs lots and lots of bathrooms. I agree that most house plans on this board are "over-bathed", but two bathrooms is a very reasonable number.
