I'm not an expert, but is there such a thing as white soapstone? Maybe he meant marble?

I'm thinking he meant white botticino marble?

I will ask him on Monday. I want something that will not compete with the granite. My husband isn't crazy about glazed tile for the backsplash. Any ideas for a white backsplash not using glazed tile? I am open to any suggestions. Do most marbles have veining in them?

I have some dark ("antiqued") copper kitchen and lighting hardware and am quite fond of it. In my case, I needed to match my naturally patinating copper countertops. The antiqued finish might not be quite as dark as the machined finish you speak of. (Every brand is so different, too.)

I think the darkened copper is a much richer feel than straight black would be - it has a nice gleam to it where the light shines. Your choice will depend on how all the other colors and textures in your kitchen interplay, of course. Feel free to post pictures for the good eyes here to help you out.

I have the Machined antique copper and it is definitely a pencil lead color. I have white cab's and soapstone counter. I don't have a close up of the hardware. HTH

I want dark hardware for my white cabinets. Has anyone used the dark antique copper machined hardware?

Thanks becktheeng. Very useful link. Do you like your hardware? Would you say it looks pretty dark? When looking at the link you sent there are hardly any choices in solid black, maybe that is a clue that I should go with the dark antique copper machined.

I was looking for black too. I didn't find much and the dark antique copper machined was nearly black. I like it a lot. As you can see, from far away it reads black...up close it is close to the pencil lead color you described before.

The specific hardware I chose because it gave me options on my bar pull size, was still traditional (a lot of the larger bar pulls looked more contemporary). Overall I'm very satified with my choice. I had my cabinet guy order a couple different finishes in the knobs, cup pull (when I thought I could use those) and pulls...then I made my decsion after I saw them in real life. HTH
