busy, I'll be busy...

Yes, I will be missing for a while. I am so busy.... my daughter, son in law, and grand kids are coming today. We only have two days together.

Then I will leave to ride the Oklahoma FreeWheel, inclusive a Pre Wheel.

busy, I'll be busy... (think of the song... easy... by the eagles)

LOL

Mine succumbed over its first winter, which to be honest was a record breaker, dropping to minus 7. Before that I had been on the fence about it, mainly due to its lack of petals during the heat and its inability to hold its form for even a day. The color however was an attractive medium non fading yellow and the form was holding better when the cooler weather arrived in fall. Blooms mostly one to a stem. No problem with disease with my limited spray schedule. Probably would do better in a climate with cooler summers then mine.........Maryl

Is honed travertine considered "busy" w/busy granite?

Snookums, thanks for the compliment on my BS. :) Kek10, your GC may not be happy with your waiting until the granite is in, but it is a whole lot better than your buying expensive tile that doesn't work and you're stuck. I was POSITIVE I had the right tile. Just positive. It looked gorgeous with everything. Then the granite went it and I was shocked how awful the tile looked with it. I even called my KD and told her it wouldn't work and she argued with me about it. "Of course it will work! It's lovely!" She came over, walked in the door, took one look at the tile and said "You're right. That looks like crap." lol I ended up bringing home tons and tons of samples because the granite had such a strong influence on how the tile looked. Caramels went pink. Rich tans went flat. The tile that I ended up using was just brought home because I was bringing so many samples home and grabbing anything that looked like a possibility. Truthfully, the tile looked like barf in the tile store. UGLY! Brought it home and it looked fabulous in the kitchen. I ended up using Seneca Handmold in Bamboo. Who knew? Anyway, here are some pictures of my BS and granite. Good luck and try to enjoy the process!

Hi Diana, Oh how fun that you are doing the Christmas play. Too cute about the baby already being a star! ;o) If I had all those outfits to make, I'd be in a panic! Glad you are excited about it. Will look forward to seeing pics of your decorations. Remember, even if they are not painted items, you can always post them over here for us to see. Come on by the Holiday forum too, lots of neat Christmas things going on over there. Luvs

Moni - I have always been impressed reading about you bicycling adventures. My daughter and her family have lived in Germany for the last 3 years and have no car, which as you know is not that unusual there. They have bikes with baskets, seats for the babies, and a trailer to pull along behind Daddy's bicycle. Last weekend they took a family day trip that was a total of 16 miles. My 5 year old granddaughter rode her own bicycle and, of course, had no training wheels. They stopped a few times to let her rest but she had no problem keeping up. She learned last year on the balance bike and just rides everywhere now. She made the same journey as a 4 year old but the spent the night at 8 miles then returned 8 miles the next day. They will surely miss the bicycle trails when they move back here.

Now I know the true meaning of "Where there's a will, there's a way". Good job, Moni. You couldn't start of June in a better way for you than a visit from the kids and a bike ride!

Have fun!!

Kat, you missed something!!

I no longer work for Home Depot. I work for the OKC school district, in the kitchen.

I am the breakfast and lunch lady. :)

Weekends off, long stretch off in the summer! Great deal, even if the pay is less.

Oh, and LOTS less stress.

Just wanted to let you know that "Trailrunner"- who posts on the Home Decorating forum here (on the conversation side of it) is leaving tomorrow on her bike trip. She leaves from Victoria, BC. She travelled last summer from Key West to Maine. She is planning on posting updates along the way with pictures.

Hi Moni,

I hope the you have a great time with the family, and a happy cycling trip.

Please ride carefully.

A man whom I met a few years ago at the old guys' coffee hour Lambeth village church had come from The Netherlands after World War II, worked in Toronto for a time, then moved to Northern Ontario, where he could buy land over 50 years ago for 50 cents per acre ... but had to live there and improve it.

On retirement and following the death of his wife he rented an apartment at a vet's office near Lambeth, the village where I attend church (the one that Iva Mae doesn't) and had a large garden outside his door. Later he moved to a seniors' home in this village, Komoka, and I was invited to his 85th birthday party here three years ago: three daughters and a son. I often come to the library here and used to see him t/here. He rode an electric bike frequently.

The other day, while travelling a rural highway several miles from his home village, to play music with a friend ... he was hit by a car and I attended his funeral this morning ... his 88th birthday.

Car driver charged with careless driving ... but it doesn't bring Gerrit van Laar back ... to life in this dimension, at least.

Lori, Allison, Nathan and I checking out lambsear at the Myriad Gardens this morning.

All left now. I have to mow, pack, get the house in order and will go on my bike about in the morning.

I'll try to check in ever now and then... my tablet didn't arrive yet. :(
