Whenever my SIL has an Arthritis flareup she runs a low grade fever. Susan, do you have Arthritis?

Could ne anything. Cold, infection, tick bite, Lyme disease. Have you been out walking in weeds ? Notice any rash?

It sounds exactly like when I had mono. I was 30 or so at the time and I have no idea how I caught it since I was married at the time and he didn't have it (I had always heard it referred to as the kissing disease and that young people got it). I had a fever, I was so tired and achy and like you I slept a lot.

I, too, though of a tick bite when I read your symptoms. I've had Lymes disease and my husband had something similar, with body aches, fever, the lot. We found the characteristic target-shaped rash on my side, but DH had none, though he was very sick for several days. Please consider a doctor visit to be tested, since a course of antibiotics should take care of Lymes and other similar things. Untreated, they can lead to debilitating sickness.

I, too, think--given those symptoms, and the fact that you have something important to do on the weekend--that a trip to the dr would be a good idea. As you know, a fever is not an illness in and of itself, it's usually the result of your body fighting off some sort of infection, so something's going on. Better to find out what and start treatment earlier than later, to be on the safe side. Feel better.

When I was a teenager I would get fever without any other symptoms. When I was married, the fevers came along with the sore throat and cough and such. Never again did I have just fever, but it could be lots of things, best have it checked out. We never went to the doctor when I was growing up, well practically never.

Well if you think about it the fever isn't by itself, it's accompanied by body aches, joint pain, lack of energy and lack of appetite. How high is your temperature? I wonder if you're coming down with a cold and the more common symptoms like congestion or a sore throat haven't arrived yet. I sure hope it isn't anything serious. Do you have any soup in your freezer? Rest and I hope you feel better soon.

I would call my doctor's office and speak to her nurse. Especially since you have a big weekend coming up.

How long have you had the fever?
It sounds like a viral infection in the prodromal phase......other symptoms may show up in the next 24+ hours.

Thanks, everyone. I've been mostly sleeping. Not sure how long I've had the fever......it's weird, I woke up sweating Saturday morning, which was very unusual but I thought it might be because of the humidity. I did some physical chores outside with my son and felt pretty dragged out, but again I thought it was because I'd gotten overtired by doing too much on Thursday and Friday.

I sweated so much on Saturday from working outside that I ended up taking three showers. By 8:30 p.m. I could barely stand up. I went to bed and had chills and lots of joint pain. (Yes, I do have arthritis). I took two aspirin around 10:00. Took my temp an hour or two later, and it was 101.5. That's as high as it's gotten, but I've also taken ibuprofen. Right now it's only slightly elevated.

I put a call into the nurse this morning, but haven't heard back yet. I'm sure I will, though. I just hope this isn't related to the work my son and I have been doing in the barn. A lot of the stuff we've been dealing with is covered with old roof debris, mold, and bat droppings. (Yes, we definitely should have worn masks, as we did when we swept another room in the barn.)

Tick bites are always a concern around here, especially for those of us who don't have anyone to look at our backs. :-)

Yes, I have had a fever all by itself with no cold symptoms many times. It just runs its course. If your fever isn't too high, I'd suggest not taking the Motrin to let the fever do its job, with lots of water and lots of sleep, of course.
