Fiberglass Door Brands
Comments (5)Through much research since my original posting, I have learned alot about fiberglass doors. They are NOT all alike. I also found the door that is the creme-da-la-creme of fiberglass doors. That is the Jeld-wen brand. I saw it in person and displayed next what I thought was the best fiberglass door. They are not even close in style and beauty! The Jeld-wen absolutely looks like a real wood door. It is fabulous. Of course, it is many times the price of brand-x fiber glass doors. It should be considered a piece of art going at the entry to your home. Now, I just need to convince DH of the investment. Any ideas...anyone have a Jeld-wen fiberglass door?...See MoreQuality of Feather River fiberglass doors?
Comments (4)Good luck on any chances of winning that law suit. What is/was the warranty? Is the installation correct? Why is the frame rotting is it sitting directly on a deck or porch, this will cause water to wick at the ends causing rot while the paint looks perfect. Is this a single or double door? Is there a storm/screen door? If "the hinges were misaligned and the threshold" and it caused the installers issues; a) why did the installer install it, was HD or Feather River notified at the time, where they given an opportunity to fix the issues? Were the installers qualified to do this install or were they a bunch of hacks who took a poorly built door unit and made the issues worse? Now I am not sticking up for Feather River nor HD as Feather River is complete crap as far as I am concerned and I would NEVER purchase any type of door or window product from HD as 95% of the people they hire for that department have no business selling that type of product....See Morefeather river wheat cast glass interior door
Comments (1)Spent the day yesterday helping FIL install a Feather River pantry door with etched glass. We all agreed that the quality was adequate for this purpose, but we'd probably want better quality if we were doing a whole house of doors....See MoreSteel vs. Fiberglass Doors
Comments (55)Our house was built in 2001. We have a double front door and garage entry door, both fiberglass by Thermatru. The front door with full lite glass has had serious warping. The top and bottom both twist in. This is in a covered area facing East. The garage entry is fine, but the seal went out in the 1/2 glass. I sent claim to thermatru direct. Via email I was able to get replacement. But not what I wanted. They were willing to send me one new door slab and 3 new pieces of glass since our style was discontinued. That would have been a nightmare trying to get the new one to match both inside and outside with paint and stain. We compromised with 2 new front slabs and 1 new glass. They sent it immediately. We are just getting around to replacing with spring weather. I’m exasperated and haven’t even started. Seeing what they sent, it is going to be a huge hassle to change out the glass AND strip and repaint the surrounds, etc that didn’t get replaced. Now looking at steel doors from Menards, Mastercraft. I see the good and bad reviews, but honestly I’d be happy if that lasted 2/3 the time these did as these fiberglass doors are crap. I want durable fade free doors. I did buy a Home Depot door for garage to house, with glass, not fire rated, my concern in that. Our installer said it was the easiest door he’s ever put in and to this day it opens and closes perfectly. On at least its 5th year. Didn’t spend more than $500 for it....See Morewinstonguy
