Thanks Deeageaux. That is the Samsung we are considering. It's just that when there is a bad review, most of the time the complaint is about the unavailability of parts from Samsung. Not sure if that situation has improved lately. The Abt salesperson told us Mr. Abt would not buy Samsung fridges for his store until recently, when he became more certain of the availability of parts. But we are still hesitating over that issue. We will check out the Amana too. It looks like the only Amana with interior dispenser is the AFD2535FES. Anyone have either of these fridges, and can provide additional insight? TIA.

Thanks beekeeperswife -- the freezer drawers with icemaker is what I am thinking about as a solution. I couldn't find much regarding user experience with these in the forum. But I am also open to other solutions for ice making that doesn't create wet ice that is constantly melting and creating new ice (which it looks like the Perlick does). Can you share your experience with regards the following: 1) How much ice does the catch tray hold? 2) Is there a mechanism that automatically shuts off the ice making when the tray is full? 3) Could the entire drawer hold ice, or do you see any problems with filling the drawer with ice? I should perhaps also mention that we will be using RO water buffered to neutral pH, and so brass/metal fittings are not preferred. I believe the Sub Zero drawers can be used with quick fitting PEX which should be compatible with RO water.

Thank you so much for answering Lisa. So glad you are happy with it. I was planning to move ice from my Fisher Paykel fridge to it for parties. I am being steered away from an ice maker by all my friends as well as negative reviews. So don't feel bad for not getting one. Most everyone's all broke in the first year. Constant repairs, cleaning the mold and mildew is not a favorite either. My friend now has to find one that fits her cabinet and most likely change the cabinetry. I think you made the best decision. I could do a side by side Freezer like this and matching fridge if there is one out there. Right now I am looking at the Fisher Paykel Multi Temp Chiller Drawer. It can be everything. Use the Freezer button for parties and fill with ice, or go back to fridge and store fridge items or Wine Chiller, Instant freeze and a couple other settings. It has a $2,800 price tag on it so I am trying to decide but no ice machine for sure. The chiller drawer has been around for 10 years and I have watched videos of it in the showroom so on the fence post. Also do you recall the brand or model on this freezer? I really like that it looks like it has drawers to pull out???

We are going to have Perlick freezer drawers. It took our project a long time to get under way, and it is taking an even longer time to get started. I guess, such is life. So, I can't actually tell you yet, whether we'll like them. But when we were doing our research, they stood out as some of the nicest drawers. They also have the biggest capacity. Of course, they aren't exactly cheap. And we are getting two next to each other, which adds to the cost. The only bit that will take getting used to is the fact that we will no longer have an ice maker in the freezer. Fortunately, there is another fridge with an ice maker in the in-law unit. Our family only ever needs about one load of ice cubes per month. So, I plan on having a storage container for ice in the Perlick and refilling it as needed. No big deal. And it might actually be fresher ice than having the ice maker refill the top layer continuously.
