Comments (17)Like Brutuses, I am becoming very aware of the chemicals being put in cottons and many other fabrics that we sleep on and wear. I don't have PB sheets but I have a 10year old duvet cover that has held up well. I purchased some great sheets from Sferra and Gaiam. I have included a link to Gaiam. I love their sateen and percale sheets. They always have some colors on clearance depending on the season. These are really high quality and wonderful cotton density. I usually buy only flat sheets so I am obsessed with Linen which may be out of your price range at this point. About the PB, restoration hardware quality, I really don't know but I think they make better quality than some and poorer quality items in certain areas. I think people are sometimes budget conscious to the point of being penny wise and pound foolish. Restoration hardware and PB towels are well rated. I am a bargain hunter but I have specifics in mind and don't mind waiting for it to go on sale or clearance. Best of luck!...See MoreWhat are your favorite brand of sheets?
Comments (8)I bought a set of sheets for the RV a while back that I absolutely love and will definitely buy more when I find them. They are Beverly Hills Polo Club and are NOT microfiber.(I do not like microfiber) The feel of them is amazing and they launder beautifully. They are Egyptian cotton. I sleep hot and these sheets feel so cool and comfortable. They are not crested sheets they do not have the Polo crest on them they are solid, the ones I got are a dark sage green. I have had very good luck finding very high quality name brand sheets at Tuesday Morning for great prices. That is not where I got the Polo sheets, I can not for the life of me remember where I got them and I want more. I also have bought some great pillows at Tuesday Morning. The store here near me always has great products....See MoreDo you iron your bed sheets?
Comments (68)I iron my top sheets and pillow cases. Any wrinkles in the fitted bottom sheet come out when you put it on the bed. I have tried to buy iron-free sheets but they are usually sateen sheets and even though they are 100% cotton, my husband and I don't like the feel of them. We like crisp, fairly heavy sheets and they are hard to find, especially if one's on a budget. I have one perfect set and 3 other not so perfect sets in addition to sets that have gone to Goodwill because we hated them....See MoreHow often do you change your sheets?
Comments (90)Up until recently our sheets were flown to Iceland where they were sanitized in a 170 deg. F geothermal pool, dried in glacial air, pressed with a lava mangle, then flown back to us. That got expensive three times a week. Nowadays we wash them for an hour, spin them out and dry them in a hot oven before hanging them outside between two birch trees. Occasionally we'll let them sit next to the reactor for an hour. My mom used to dry sheets (all clothes, laundry) outdoors -- even in icy, windy January. The sheets and towels would be as stiff as boards until they "dried". They would be fragrant of fresh air and saltwater cove. Sometimes they would stay overnight on the pulley line. One spring morning we awoke to the bay and cove smelling of smelts. Of course the laundry on the line was redolent of smelts as well. Sound awful, but, although I wouldn't want daily laundry smelling of them, smelts don't smell fishy at all (neither does fresh fish, btw). They actually have a very clean fragrance. Smelts were all over the nearby ledges and shore -- stranded there when the tide went out. Pogies in July? That's another matter entirely. I love the bird and dog/s in the bed....See Morefizzlebottom
