American Idol (A Spoiler!)

Think everybody should have seen tonight's show by now. Syesha went home. Boy! I think that girl has a voice! Hated to see any of the three of them go home at this point, but I DO think she has a bright future in music. Figure both the Davids do, too.

The two left were the two I have been figuring for a while now would make it to the last show.

Syesha was one of my favorites from the start, but her choices of songs along the way didn't do much for me. I'm sure she'll do great, as will all of the top 10.

What was with Fantasia's song??? When they showed Simon's face I nearly died LOL. I didn't like the song OR the red hair OR the chicken-like dancing going on.

I figured it would come down to the 2 David's...I didn't like Fantasia's voice the season she was on and I still don't like her singing. I always thought she sounded like she was screaming.

Yep, about the first 5-6 they called they were right on the money as far as Twinkie and I were concerned. I wish that they'd given Jordan (I think his name is) another chance to sing. The tall black guy that they said should try less pop-style songs and more Nat King Cole, etc. I liked his voice. I think he cooked his goose along with the little guy with the glasses for the way they treated Jacey at the beginning. Good thing Scotty apologized and sounded sincere about his part in it. We're really enjoying the show this year. Jennifer and Steven together are really interesting and he has a killer sense of humor without being cruel with it.

Have to admit there are some really good ones this year. They each have their own style. Maybe the twist will be that there will be two winners. I vote for Adam and the 16 yr old, red hair girl. I can't remember her name either. I'm am sure most of them will come away with recording contracts but it is early. Only thing I don't like this year is that I am getting tired of Paula and her antics. I think she and Simon act so childish.

Well, she got her dig in at Simon and he gave her one right back but I did think it was kind of cruel the way he spoke to her at the end. I agree it was time for her to go, but Matt and Anoop better step up or they'll be next to leave. David Cook's performance was very good, and neat that they presented him with his platinum record while he was there. Suzan J

I got home from choir practice around 8:15 and DH was watching Idol, so he backed it up to the beginning and said "I'll fast forward through Fantasia's song." I said no, I want to hear it (never heard her before as this is my first season to watch AI). She walked out and the music started and I said "oh ..... go ahead and fast forward - I can already tell I'm not going to like this." I'll have to go back and see Simon's expression because I've heard others on another message board comment about it.

I have thought for a while now it would come down to the 2 David's and I honestly don't have a feel one way or the other who will win.

I've never liked Fantasia's performance. Not my type of music or dancing. I loved the look on Simon's face. LOL! My sentiment exactly.

There were no surprises last night.

I think we all thought it would come down to David & David in the finals. This should be a really exciting show next week. I'm rootin' for David Cook to win this competition, although I know it won't be an easy win. David A. is very good, also!

No surprises here, as everyone said. I'm rooting for David Cook to win, but I'll be happy either way. I liked Syesha all along, too, and hope she continues & finds her niche.

I had to play it back to see his face too because while she was singing I was away from the tv, on purpose :O)

His face was priceless! I don't think he quite liked it either! It was awful!

Just before they showed Simon's face, I told Lauren "I wish they'd show Simon's expression when some of these people come back to sing"...lol, then they put the camera on him! Priceless. I only understood about three words she and the backup girl's sang.

Lauren and I are still hoping David Archuletta wins, I think David Cook is too cocky for his own good. He already thinks he has it in the bag.

Syesha really grew as the season progressed. She has a future in music. It was nice to see her with a happy ending to the show.

David Cook is my choice to win. I don't see him as cocky. He has a lot of maturity.

I think David Archuleta may take it hard if he doesn't win. He still has some growing to do. He has a bright future ahead.

Im still rooting for Litle David,,,but thats because Im older and he could be my grandson. What a sweet heart!!! I dont care for Cook. Hes not my style at all, but I can see how the younger ones would like him.He looks like he just rolled out of bed and put on yesterdays clothes.

I would have been happy with any of the three winning. They are all very talented. David Cook should win it but Archie probably will win. Actually that's better for Cook. I think Archie needs the "Idol" title to back him due to his age and immaturity. I think Cook would fare better without the title if past 2nd place contestants are any indication.

I don't find David Cook cocky at all. He is confident yet humble. If he were cocky he would not have been in tears at his hometown events.

As for Fantasia I didn't understand anything she "sang" but I actually enjoyed the music and performance. She knows how to work a stage and get people on their feet. Simon's expression was priceless.

Do any of you think that David A's chances to win will be harmed because of his goofy dad and the news that he's been banned from practices?

I believe David C will win because he is more popular with older young people than is David A.

David A might well not be able to carry the responsibility of being the Idol. Give him time and he will find his place.

About David A's dad interfering. If it was the matter of him insisting on the change in the lyricss of the song, why did the Producers go along with it? Surely all they had to do is refuse to allow it.

Simon's expression when Fantasia was singing looked to me like he was saying: "What the ?? was that?"

    Sue

Sue - my understanding (and I'm just repeating what I've read on various boards) is that the AI Producers had told David A. to NOT change the lyrics, but his dad told him to do it anyway, so he did, and that is why Daddy Dearest has been banned from the set.

David Cook.....Cocky???? You have got to be kidding!!! I think he's very humble and is in awe that he's made it this far, considering he hadn't even planned on auditioning. Didn't you see the tears when his brother that's battling cancer was in the office? I can see the attachment he has to his family and I believe he's a really down-to-earth guy. I think he's a prime examole of someone that's worked hard to get where he is and it thankful for being there!!!

I'm an American Idol fan inthat I watch every year; it's interesting to follow most of these singers (notice I said "most"!)

The year Fantasia (aka Minnie Mouse in our house) won, I was absolutely amazed that it could happen. DH said she always looked like she was squatting over a public toilet, and last night she did not disappoint him! LOL!!!!

RE Fantasia - I feel very badly for her because she has a very strong voice but I don't think she has the proper backing. She is very imature and needs a little polishing - voice coach and all. She has never had the opportunities before Idol. Now she has the spotlight to get the training and musical direction that she needs. I just think she's in the wrong circuit and isn't receiving the proper guidance for her voice and ability. I know Oprah has(had) her in "Color Purple", but I don't think she is aware enough to do much more than what she is doing. Maybe, maybe not, but either way, it's a shame. She won't get far like this. BTW, I turned on the tube just in time to see Simon's face - yep, I saw, "what the **%%$$,,,".

RE the David's - it's a toss up. Actually, the three were pretty good. The older one should get it, but I think Cook will have more opportunities whether he wins or not, than the younger one. They said the vote was pretty close. I wonder how close.

I liked Syesha at the end but I did not like her at the beginning. I do think that with the right people helping her along, she will go far. As for who I think will win, I think David A will win because all the young girls will vote over and over. However, I want David C to win. Either way, I think David C. has a better chance at this point that David A of making it big mainly because of his age.

Brenda, thanks for that info, but I guess I don't understand. It would seem then that, even though it might have been discussed, no one knew David was going to sing the changed lyrics until after he sang. Then AI had to pay for the copyright.

I still say, poor David, to be put in the middle between doing what his father tells him, or not.

    Sue

I heard both Davids say very complimentary things about each other today in separate interviews. Both are good-hearted and good sports, as well as being talented. I'll be happy to see either win.

We like Syesha a lot and were sorry to see her go, but she has shown what she can do and is sure to land a good recording contract on her own.

As far as Fantasia is concerned, I like her but I wasn't crazy about Wednesday's performance. I agree that she needs coaching, guidance or something so that she can use her voice to best advantage.

Never liked Fantasia Barreiro and that show did nothing to change it. I thought she always looked like she was flapping her wings doing the "chicken walk" but "....always looked like she was squatting over a public toilet..." THAT'S IT!!!! LOL

I've always said that second place is usually better than winning AI from history. But face it, about the top 5 will have the momentum to do something if they have the talent.

I'm pretty sure Cook will win. He's OK, but I don't consider him a "rocker". It does get old with him always having that dang guitar hanging around his neck. I like Arch's type of music more than Cooks, but Cook isn't bad. He's had some excellent performances from what I've seen. The other thing about him, I keep wanting to clear my throat when I hear him sing!

I'll say this, I think this year has been the best pool of talent they've ever had. Although different, they pretty much all had talent. Seems like before they put a few ringers in just to make it easy to kick out the first half dozen.

BTW, is it me, or did Fanty-B look like she's been making a few extra trips to the buffet lately? But then again, and not surprisingly to me at least, she hasn't had much of a career to keep her busy. She was always so skinny but she's definitely not malnourished now. And no, strawberry Jell-O is NOT a good substitute for mousse.

"I still say, poor David, to be put in the middle between doing what his father tells him, or not."

    I totally agree.

I hope Cook wins. I feel his music. I don't think he is a bit cocky, he has had tears in his eyes more than once on this show. He strikes me as a big sweety. I think David A is great too, I just don't think it is his time.

I dont think David Cook is cocky AT ALL. I think he's sweet and very humbled by his popularity and success so far.

I love that he wears the orange wrist bracelet every week. It was sent to him from a 7 year old little girl who is sick with leukemia. She loves David. He somehow found out about her and he called her. Her father sent him the band and he started wearing it on the show...every show. He wears it so that she can see it when she's watching on TV.

The wristbands were made up by the girls father. Her favorite color is orange and they say "Do whatcha gotta do" and on the other side it has her name.

    I think that's such a sweet story.
