I always wait for the big June sale at Bath & Body to stock up, you can really get great prices and they usually bring back the discontinued scents, I'm watching their website for the dates because the good stuff goes quickly.

I've been using Walmart's Equate for a few years and I like it well enough. I then tried PerCare from Dollarama and like it as well.

Looking at the ingredients they both have some sort of alcohol in them though. certa alcohol or some such thing.

Good idea, read the label before you buy. Last night DH was staring at a glass bottle of pop, reading the ingredients. It was "artificially flavored black cherry."

Even the brand name items Dollar Tree carries are often watered down versions of the real brands--even though they're in the bottles you recognize.

I don't bother buying the expensive moisteners these days--you've probably got one of the main ingredients right in your kitchen cabinets, it's generally only about $4/quart, and because it isn't watered down with other ingredients, you need only a drop or two at a time. Best of all, it's super effective. Just grab your bottle of safflower oil, and put a little in a small bottle with the rest of your cosmetics. It's a great skin moisterizer AND it's good for moisturizing your hair as well--but as I said, only a drop or two is needed.

now i check to make sure it's made in america....got some of those gifty ones at christmas in my stocking... they were made in china and yukky! dumped them...

Cetyl alcohol isn't like rubbing alcohol.

From Wikipedia:

Cetyl alcohol is used in the cosmetic industry as a surfactant in shampoos, or as an emollient, emulsifier or thickening agent in the manufacture of skin creams and lotions.

With the demise of commercial whaling, cetyl alcohol is no longer primarily produced from whale oil but instead either as an end-product of the petroleum industry, or produced from vegetable oils such as palm oil and coconut oil.

Whatever, it's not as good as what I've been using from Bath and Body Works!

I can't say enough good about "Gloves in a Bottle". I started exclusively using it this past fall and winter, and my skin is in the best condition it has ever been.

It's a little hard to find and a little expensive. I almost always have to buy it in needlework and quilt shops (they stock it because it won't ruin the project you're handling and working on). Give it a try if you ever can find it.

I agree - hand lotion with alcohol in it? Alcohol dries. Hmmm.

Jannie, I'm not following. What was it about the label on the glass bottle that surprised you and your husband? Are you saying that you didn't expect it to be artificially flavored, but instead have real black cherry flavor? I don't think any soft drinks (pop) have genuine flavor - they're all artificialy flavored as far as I know.

Ingredients are as follows on the DT daffodil hand lotion: water, sorbitol, cetearyl, alcohol, stearic acid, isoprophyl palmitate, etc, etc, etc.

I like Quench hand and body lotion, it has a soft fragrance that doesn't upset my allergies and it isn't sticky.

I LOVE Dermasil, which I purchased at Dollar tree. I also purchased "Natural Wild Orchid with Dead Sea Minerals". Loved them both!!!

They also had Olay body wash in Ginger.....loved it too....

Was going to post what Mary C said but saw she already had. Unfortunately I see people still don't understand or perhaps don't want to.. Cetyl alcohol is used in most lotions. Even the priciest ones. It is an emollient. Can even be used e as a lubricant in mechanical applications. Isopropyl alcohol is an entirely different thing. It evaporate quickly and ids drying.

This reminds me of the fear of the words gluten (glue) and sulfate (sulfur) in products. You have to check the actual chemistry and real science before you panic. They mean several things in different products.

I only use lotion that I would be comfortable eating. :) It never made sense to me to use body products that are inedible. Most commercial manufactured lotions are full of unnatural ingredients that can't be pronounced yet people slather themselves in it. I don't really understand why someone would want to put that in their body. But to each their own! We all have different health priorities.

I like to use coconut oil. I apply it at night after a shower and wake up with baby soft skin.

I reread, and more closely. Ok, I now understand about the alcohol; thanks for educating me. I still don't understand about the "artificial black cherry".

Sorry if I confused anyone with my post about artificial flavorings in sodapop. I was just amused my husband was bothering to read the fine print. I know soda is junk food. My kidney doctors have told me not to drink the stuff. And I don't except when I get a craving for Coca Cola.

I love Aveeno...get it at Costco for a pretty good price.

I use Creamy Baby Oil from Dollar Tree! I was thrilled to find it because Johnson and Johnson discontinued their baby scent, except for Aloe Vera and some other fragrance...who would put those other scents on a baby? I am sensitive to some perfumed scents..can't use Bath and Body Works, Avon, etc! :(

Anyway, the DT oil is a soft fragrance, not heavy, absorbs quickly, not greasy at all. Love it, love it, love it!

I stand by what I said, I don't like the lotion that I purchased from Dollar Tree.

I will have to try ones mentioned by Nicole.

I have used that Udder Cream and really like it.
Comes in a tube.

I was using a tube of Udder Cream after Water Class at the Y last week and someone told me that's what her quilting class was told to use to not mess up their projects.

That's why I like it--disappears fast.
