I'm being 100% honest when I ask...which is the Mom's and which is the daughters. They ALL look about the same age and they're all beautiful ladies!!

That came out great. I'll bet she was so surprised - and pleased! How do you finish off the edge? Do you just fold it under and hand stitch or use carpet binding?

I think you're being 100% polite, but I'll answer anyway. LOL "The girls"--at least the older ones--will be happy to hear this.

My daughter-in-law is wearing the glasses. Her mother has four other children, including a 9-year-old and a 6-year-old. She's a very nice person, and we're a good team of mothers-in-law. :-)

In the other pic, my daughter is on the left. She was quite young when my granddaughter was born--and apparently she hasn't aged a bit since. When Lizzie was little, and I looked a lot younger, I was always mistaken for her mom. She got a big kick out of this. She still enjoys having a young looking mother.

In the pix from the shower, the turtle really does seem to be swimming, as you intended. The lighting is different, and we're seeing it from a greater distance.

Oh gosh, they are a beautiful bunch! And the turtle is way beyond precious! I agree, I never want to go to a shower with you!! LOL!!!!

Haha! Trust me, guys, it wasn't like that!! The rug got a lot more attention at the KT than it did at the shower. A few of the people looked like rug hooking was so far out of their realm that they couldn't quite take it in. I lost them when I said the lettering was done with wool from an old pair of pants. LOL

But the baby's parents loved it, and that's the most important thing.

It surprised me that the rug was the only handmade gift there. I expected to see a few knitted sweaters, crocheted booties, and maybe a baby quilt. But no, nothing like that. It's not as though everyone at the shower was young. But I guess these skills are dying out. It's too bad.

I started on another hooking project immediately--partly because I want to make a footstool cover before the weather gets too warm for working with wool, and partly because I'm addicted to Law and Order reruns. :-)
