Comments (3)very interesting question for me as i have a new garden and have only been using the liquid fence and deerbgone for a few months, but i haven't seen any ill effects on the roses themselves or the other plants near them and no deer are even approaching the plants...See MoreWhite quartz counters look off-white & how to make kitchen look taller
Comments (15)Nic's,,the 4" piece should come off easy enough. you may tear the paper on the backsplash, which is ok if it's not too deep into the drywall. I guess if you were on scene you could have asked them not to install it. I mean, what difference is it to them whether or not it goes on the wall? to say it would be more money not to have one, is ridiculous. it takes more time to cut one and finish the edges! but, whatever. as for the design, it's a herringbone. and those I've shown you come on 12" sheets so you don't have to do the actual design (which is very difficult) the first one is calacatta marble in a 1x2 herringbone (also comes in a 1x4, which I like better). You can find this all over,,,even Houzz carries it. If you want the marble, then stick w/the Calacatta not the Carrara. carrara is a blue/white and will clash w/your counters. calacatta has a warmer tone to the stone. the 2nd on is a tumbled travertine which you can get here: https://www.pebbletileshop.com/products/Cream-Herringbone-Stone-Mosaic-Tile.html#.WhX_BLaZNT4 this will give you an idea of what it looks like installed (you can turn it longways as well) If you search "herringbone mosaic tile" you should get lots of ideas and places to buy them. this one is from Lowes, allen and roth. you could buy one and bring it home to see how it looks this is the basketweave this would also work. crackle glass by Merola tile. Olean Glass mosaic. I think Home Depot carries thesenothing wrong w/doing a little color. pale green, blue or gray would also work well. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Merola-Tile-Chester-Sage-3-in-x-12-in-Ceramic-Wall-Tile-1-sq-ft-pack-WNU32CSG/300341310 these would also look nice,,,they have them in different shades https://www.mercurymosaics.com/shapes/field-subway-tile/...See Moresmudges on quartz countertops that won’t come off
Comments (27)Hi Ellen! Sorry for the delay in responding. The daltile rep came out and wiped it down with acetone which helped, but I foolishly thought it could be done a little more and did it myself, resulting in a pretty big dull spot next to my stove. Luckily, the placement of a cutting board right on top of the spot looks good so that is what I will be doing. The acetone definitely helped the smudges though! I should have just not gotten so overzealous and taken matters into my own hands further. You live and you learn! :)...See MoreQuartz professionals - what brand would you use in a bathroom?
Comments (3)Assess the size needed by the tub deck. Some decks can be pretty wide. Wider than the typical slab. And you’ll need 1 whole slab for that, with not a lot left over, depending on the size of the deck. Then look at that tub cutout. Is that cutout going to be large enough to get 2 vanity tops from? A vanity top and some niche liners? Curb liners? You need to know what size pieces you need before selecting anything. And draw them out on a diagram. Then go shopping with the diagram, and don’t be too picky. What typically happens here is that you need 1 1/2 slabs for the bath. So you have to buy 2. With a half a slab left over. But. Sometimes you can fit everything into a single Jumbo slab. And sometimes some brands will sell 1/2 a slab. And sometimes the fabricator has a remnant, and you only need to buy a whole slab. And sometime, a fabricator stocks a color, so will sell you the only square footage you need, rather than having to buy whole slabs. Also, the fabricator is more important than brand. So if the best guy in town has you buying 2 special order slabs, and is 3K more than the second best guy who stocks a color that you don’t have to worry about buying slabs, that's probably fine to go with the second best fabricator. But, if it’s some sketchy looking slab yard where you never see the shop, and there are no examples of the work, saving 3K probably isn’t worth it. The more that you know about the sizes you need on the front end, the more that empowers you to evaluate the tradeoffs of brand and slab size limitations....See Morecani
