I would not change the height of the mirror. You don't want it to feel all crunched down low. It visually lifts the eye up and is perfect in that spot.
I am not sure if the drill is in the right spot though, lol...

I love your dining room. Those drapes are perfect. I agree about the mirror. Perhaps a tall arrangement opposite the lamp to balance the space out? Although I do think it looks fine to my eye.

I think the drapes look perfect (and I think the drill is perfect color wise as well). I am undecided about the mirror. at first glance, I thought it was a tad too high, but then second look I like it where it is. no help huh.

amyanne, the wall color is SW Ramie mixed by Lowe's in Glidden Evermore. I love it! It's the only color we painted when we moved in that I haven't grown tired of or repainted. what color rod did you go with black or bronze? Most of our stuff is like your - brownish/bronze- but would that look ok with the red? I can pick either brown (which is a bronze color) or black- but i have nothing black in the room?

Will they work??? Rod Bronze or Black

I bought the bronze rod, but I'll be honest, it is a knock off bought at a Homegoods type store. I just could not justify the price of the rods at Pottery Barn and my much, much cheaper rod and hardware actually do the same job and leave me money towards some other project. I love your rooms! We also have deep reds, rusts, AND maroons in our livingroom. Our floor plan is not as open as yours but if you notice, those colors are also all present in the diningroom. I actually considered putting those curtains in the livingroom but found I "needed" them more in the diningroom. I believe they would be lovely in your space and there is enough space between the livingroom rug and diningroom windows if you are afraid the colors will clash. The color in the diningroom rug is not as heavy and will not be an issue. I must tell you, my livingroom rug has maroons, reds, and rusts in it along with cream, golds, greens, (sage and a darker green). Those colors all go together so well. While I would never wear maroon pants and a red shirt, when decorating, they are very complimentary of each other. If it doesn't feel right to you, then post your pics in a separate post here and ask all these wonderfully talented GWers for their advice. The most important thing is that you end up with a room that makes YOU smile! I cannot wait to see your finished room!

TY we just picked these up at Target- they had a little more marroon- faux silk-- I too have an issue with some of these prices lol-
DH not sure he likes shiny- but we have a bay window rod on order- once it comes in I�ll hang it and try it....

suzienj, tell your DH the "shimmer" will grow on him. It is what makes the area a little more formal. My Dh thought the same thing at first and now he loves the curtains. What a great buy! I cannot wait to see them hung!

I would hang the mirror with the top even with the top of the picture on the other wall it is close to. To my eye it doesn't look connected enough to the furniture. Nice room!
