JJean, unless you have a style of sofa that exactly fits a style of slipcover I've yet to find one that really looks good. Though if you can find one of the stretchy kind that works for your sofa I'd go that way or have a custom one made if you can't make one yourself.
And then there's always the "paint it" idea if the fabric is somewhat smooth in texture.

I have the Surefit for the loose back pillows. It's not perfect, but it sort've has to do for awhile. There are pretty much no other options for loose back pillows.

At least they are washable for when elderly vomiting cat has an accident.

Thanks guys! I am a little concerned about style ... our couch/loveseat is a camelback style with the t-cushion. So, I guess I'll have to do a little checking.

Here where I live (around B'ham, Al.) slipcovers cost around $300.-$350. plus your fabric. And with the right sofa they look fabulous. But a comment was made above about having the right type of sofa, which is a must or they just look slobby IMO.

All the Gardenweb regulars have seen my made-over Surefit slipcover more times than they care to remember, but for new people who think a camelback slipcover is beyond their abilities, think again. If I can do it, anybody can. I had no instructions, no sewing machine & no experience but I did have a baggy one-size-fits-all Surefit slipcover, a long holiday weekend, & plenty of determination. Yes, I skipped the welting that would have made it look a little more professional, but hey, I was in a hurry. And check out those arms! Just make sure you wash your fabric first, in the hottest water possible. I sure wish someone had told me that ahead of time. Oh, well, live & learn! Anyway, you have nothing to fear but fear itself, so go for it. M.

I've looked at the slipcovershop website and have thought about ordering from them. I can get a custom 3 piece slipcover for about $400. It would hopefully fit a lot better than a loose fit slipcover. Has anyone used the site?

Now why didn't I think of that Magnaverde? It's not like I don't sew and haven't altered other things before. DUH! I think I might just keep the slipcover I took off the loveseat and customize it. I've done it with draperies before, why not slipcovers, huh? As always, you are brilliant M.

Go to craigslist and buy a used Ikea slipcover (ektorp). You can get them cheap and then get a slipcover. (white loveseat cover is only $11!!!!!
