Great video. Last month while flipping through the channels I stumbled upon show about a teenager in Mongolia who had trained a Golden Eagle for hunting just like we're used to seeing with a falcon. They showed the boy and his father releasing the eagle to hunt a fox.

I bought the 10685 last season b/c I had to have a Lawnboy and couldn't find a new 2 cycle close to home. I've since found a few, but still use my 10685 quite often. For mulching its great, side discharge is about as good as any I guess (never really heard of anyone proclaiming the discharge quality of their mower), and it bags well too, but... In my opinion the bag is a bit small. If you stay on top of your grass cutting, and don't let it get too high, then you should be OK. I was accustomed to a snapper hi-vac with a much larger bag and could go so much further before needing to empty the bag, however the LB does a nicer job of bagging than the snapper did. The tec6.5 has tremendous power also. There are many here that knock the newer lawnboys, and I can understand that with the cult following the 2 cycle LB's have... They are purists and thats cool. I wouldn't trade my 10323's or 10550 for anything, but I also don't mind having the 10685 around at all. **Personal experience story - following hurricane Katrina, we were cut off from returning to our homes for weeks. I had been way behind on cutting my grass (almost 3 weeks since last cut when the storm hit) and it was at least 3-4 weeks until I got home after the storm. The house had been flooded due to the local govt. deciding to not run the drainage pumps and we had an extreme amount of work to do. After a full day of removing furniture, drywall, etc. I felt the need to actually see an improvement in the house so I went out to the shed (raised 18" off the ground so didn't flood) and pulled out the 10685. The lawn was hideous to say the least, but I needed to get this done. I setup for side-discharge, jacked the wheels all the way up (4") and just walked through the lawn. The mower slowed/bogged down maybe 3 times throughout the whole cut. You can only imagine the windrows that were left behind... I made a 2nd pass with the wheels set a bit lower (3.5") and concentrated on running over all the piles of grass, and then made a 3rd run mulching with the wheels set just at my normal cut height (3") and finished up for the day. While my finished product was not a 'beautiful' manicured lawn, it was 100x's better than it was before. It at least made me feel like something was getting done and I actually got comments on how nice the mower cut over the next few days from neighbors. It's funny how something like a lawnmower can change a situation and attitude so drastically. Good luck with your purchase. -mike s.

Stay away from A series. I'm going to replace 13 windows in my 60 year old cape. New sideing also going to be put on so I'm going with new construction windows. Started last fall with one Anderson A series window just to get a handle on how the project was going to go. Thank goodness I only ordered one window. My A series window is a nice looking unit with good features but when I lock it the sashes seperate instead of coming together, 5/32 of on inch on the sides and 3/16 of an inch in the middle. Pictures are available on DIY chatroom, I hope link below works. Go to Windows and Doors then to Anderson 'A' series window. There is no air leakage between the sashes but for the premium price of this window I don't think this is right. So far Anderson's response has been to replace the sash lock. which made absolutely no difference. My next 12 windows will be Marvins which by the way are $100 less expensive. Area Anderson Rep. has been useless, DIY posting got responce from Anderson factory rep. that has gone ok but I don't expect problem to be resolved. Here is a link that might be useful: DIY chatroom

You may be 100% correct, lzerac. I have not sold Eagle products in a few years and they very well may have improved the quality but I just do not feel Andersen products are a top of the line product, either performance or durability wise. The 400 and Tilt Wash Double Hungs which make up the bulk of their sales are a vinyl wrapped frame which is not very think nor attractive from my perspective. The sash are not architecturally correct in that the sash are essentially the same top and bottom and do not give you the aesthetics that a wood window should have. The exterior of the sash are still a painted product and the glass is only 5/8" of an inch thick where as most companies have gotten better performance values from thicker glass. This is just for starters I do not sell wood windows currently and need to think back to some of the other reasons I am not a fan. I used to sell a hell of a lot of Andersen Windows but then I started selling Marvin and Kolbe and just found the workmanship and the quality if the products to be of a higher quality. I personally feel that when Andersen started making custom products and purchasing other companies that this was the downfall of them as they started trying to be everything to everybody instead of being themselves. Just my feelings and opinion forr what that is worth.

I just replaced 3 patio doors (19 year old Marvin's) last week with Andersen Frenchwood gliders (these are the 400s). They were installed by a licensed contractor. I think they are garbage. They look good but mine are performing poorly. Major cold air infiltration at the top and bottom of the interlocking weatherstrip between the panels. In fact, I have an adjacent 1 inch strip of frost the entire length of the interlocking strip. I have resorted to stuffing t-shirts in where the panels meet to help stop the cold air. I feel air getting in along the bottom of the moving panel and have thick frost on the sill. Also have frost in the sill channel. The sill is just shaped metal with no insulation. I have the auxiliary foot locks and cold air just streams out of the lock holes in the sill. I have had to plug them with a paper towel to stop the air. My old Marvin's were much better. I don't know about Eagle but if I knew what I know now I would have stayed far, far away from the Andersen's.

I sure wouldn't want to mess with that eagle....if it can do it to a deer, I would hate to see what the eagle could do to a human, especially a child.

I see eagles on our cliff daily. Many many times they have "things" in their talons. (Cats,dogs, rabbits and snakes). A fawn is about the same size, so this doesn't surprise me.
Once a eagles talons lock onto something they stay locked until they land, so nothing is getting away from them.
Jannie, sorry there's a a reason they are called "birds of prey". They are predators.

I can't watch it, I'm like Jannie. I know it's natural selection and all that, but it is too sad to know the fate of that animal. I was on a walk last year and a hawk swooped down and grabbed a songbird right in front of me. I can still hear the shrieks of that poor little bird as the hawk carried it away.

I won't watch it either. I know animals have to kill, but that doesn't mean I have to watch them do it. Why ever would I?

I know it is natural and I don't object to even people hunting animals, but honestly my emotions are always so raw that I would be in tears for a long time.....

I never watch things like that. I know I'm a bleeding heart who hates hates to see animals suffering and although I know it's there, I don't want to see it. Traumatized still after all these years by Bambi's mother getting killed when I was three.

I started it all. Sorry if I offended Ron or anyone else. I just don't think watching the act of death is "cool". I do not watch snuff movies, I've never tortured anything for fun, and I think that video was just gross. Yes I know animals hunt and kill,it's their nature, but I'm not exactly fascinated with it. I don't watch most of the shows on Animal Planet, for the same reason. Again, sorry for starting a ruckus. Oh, yeah, I have leather belts and I enjoy a good steak dinner.

I don't eat meat ,and I don't wear leather. I know nature is predatory...I just don't ever want to witness it.

I'm curious about one thing, and I don't mean this rudely or to start a debate but I'm curious if the people who don't like the idea of animals suffering still eat meat? Is that justified differently? Personally I think slaughterhouses are a thousand times worse than nature but most people don't seem to mind that, or just try not to think about it. It's just interesting to me to see people so passionate about one thing but not the other.

I'm sorry some of you found it offensive. Perhaps, growing up on a farm I've developed a callous attitude. Dealing with livestock on a daily basis you soon realize death is a part of life. Death for one animal is life for another. Would the eagle slowly starving to death be any less offensive?
