NOOK owners...will you please share info with me.

There is no way I can get as many books on my Nook as I'm used to reading...and I like to read just one kind..the Love Inspired books (suspense, romance and history)published by Steeple Hill books.

I usually get them at thrift stores for 50cents to 1.00.

I had heard that Kindle had open the door for getting ebooks at the library. So I was interested and said something about it to my daughter. She (and the rest of my family) think I'm hard to buy for. So they jumped on getting me an e-reader. Unless I can find a supply of my favorite books I'm afraid I won't use this like I should.

I sure don't want to hurt Denny's feelings by reading paper back books after they all spent a good amount of money on this Nook.

I don't know how to get connected to the library ebooks. The Nook only comes with a quick start leaflet.

Can anyone give me some hints how to use it.

Sorry, I don't have a Nook. My hubs and I each have Kindle, and we love them!

Having said, that, however, I think your Nook should hold at least 1,500 books, so that should be more than enough to keep you reading for a day or two. :-)

Go to the Barnes and Noble web site. They should have a link there with information about how to use the Nook. I know the Kindle comes with a complete User Manual already downloaded onto it, so the Nook should, too, but if it didn't, there should be one online that you could get.

I am in Oklahoma, and do not have experience with Buff Beauty, but have grown Ducher and Gruss An Achen as well as the pink sport. I love Ducher. It blooms well, is about 5 ft. tall, and not real wide. I used to grow the Gruss roses until I stopped spraying. Once they never received fungicide, they weakened. I did not find occasional black spot that offensive, but it hurt the roses (I think). I am not sure how they would do now in a garden where spray is never used. There could be a difference between removing spray from a rose, and growing a rose that never is sprayed. Ducher does not get any disease in my garden. I grow two together and love them. Sadly I cannot enjoy the fragrances that well. (It is an age thing.) Sammy

Rootball of a mature tomato is about a cubic foot, so you need a pot at least twice that size. I use a pot about 2' dia and 2' deep BIG-UN. bigger the better. Don't crowd it or you'll be watering it 2 or 3 times a day. Earth-boxes are the best tho.

Bellsmom, Ice cream freezers are a pretty mature technology, and Cuisinart isn't likely to turn belly up during your warranty period, so why not? :) I like that the 100 has the different paddles, though I don't know how big a difference it makes. I donated counter space that wasn't all that useful anyway to mine, but I wish it did a magic appear/disappear act. :) Yours should be fine in the pantry if you have a solid counter and a plug. It's sure to vibrate a lot and needs some clear space for the circulation of warm air (i.e., not right up against your foodstuffs because they want cool pantry, and a freezer will warm it up). Those are the biggest problems with putting it in the pantry. Do you have a laundry room where you could put it? Maybe keep a cloth over it when not in use to keep away lint, etc. Or even a protected porch? The lack of water shouldn't be a big issue because of the removable bowl. You can take all the main parts to the sink for cleaning (maybe keep a little dishpan with the machine to dump them in, and just bring a sponge or rag and a small bowl (or the dishpan) of water to the machine for wiping it down. Kids love making frozen treats, and it's also a great way to teach them about what's in what they're eating. Be really honest with yourself, however. Do you really want to be carrying the ingredients back and forth? And the clean-up? Would you rather have it on the kitchen counter? Would giving up freezer space be no issue because you'd be using the space you usually fill with bought ice cream for the bowl of a non-freezer model? Will you use it more if it's just ready to go? Will you use it less if you have to unearth the bowl from a pile of stuff in the freezer? I know the arias are beautiful, but imagine yourself doing the conducting. Read through the instructions online and imagine yourself doing the work. See which model you'd really rather have to fit into your real life and way of doing things, and your particular cooking setup. You're already well informed. That's the next good step to making a choice.

PLease post pics of the rest of the sapce right now I have no idea where you would put a sideboard at all.IMO no round table will work in that space .I do not know where the bench is but they are the worst possible seating at a dining table. Why not something like the Saarinen table with tulip chairs. I find with a pedestal table you can always squeeze in another chair or 2 and the oval is a nice shape in a smaller space.

I have a nook...maybe I can help you some!

Do you have Nook Color or Nook Classic? Either way, if your library has "overdrive media" you will be able to borrow library books, so check with them. If they do, you need to have a library card to download their e-books. I've never done this yet myself, but I'm told that you download the e-books to your Barnes and Noble account, and then side-load them to your Nook.

Have you set up an account at Barnes and Noble yet? And registered your Nook? If not, those are the first two things you need to do, before using your Nook.

Also, at the Barnes and Noble website (www.bn.com)there are a lot of tutorials about using your Nook. If you live near enough to a Barnes and Noble store, you can go into the store and have them explain things and help you with it. Most stores also have "Nook Classes" that are free and very helpful.

Also, in case you didn't know...there are a million or so free e-books out there to try. They're free, so why not?? And Barnes and Noble also have a 'free Friday' book each week, sometimes they're good, sometimes not so much, but still FREE! You can check them out after 12:01am Pacific time.

you have to use overdrive to get the library books but even if your local library does not do it you can do it from the list of libraries that do. This is not just Nook related, the format that is used is the epub format so any reader that can read epub can access and use the library books.

that website is a great resource, every month they put out a list of all the free ebooks in various formats, be sure you check it regularly because a book may only stay free for a few days.

you do know you can use an additional SD memory card to hold a LOT of books too right?
Just download them to your pc and then copy or drag them to your SD memory card in your card reader and then you can put the SD card in your Nook.

Hi Patti

I see the Council Bluffs library is on the list of libraries that use WILBOR - it is what my library also uses for ebooks and downloadable audio books.

If you take your NOOK into the library they should be able to help you get started.

The books from the library do not stay available forever on your reader. You "check" them out for a certain period. Sometimes you have to wait for a book to become available.

I had my first look at a Kindle last Saturday at a yard sale . The lady holding the sale was using one and kindly gave me a demo. Very facinating and informative am thinking of getting one since I really dont read the printed on paper books anymore.
I understand tht you can change the font and size also.

I bought my NOOK Color after Christmas after hearing/reading a great deal about them. "Needed" one. :-)
I also (after reading on KT - forgot who - but thanks if you're reading this) went out and bought the CVS' special on a $39.00 e-reader for DH who wanted no part of these & now can't wait for me to get him downloaded.!
I think they are SO new and novel to SO many people who don't k now quite what to do with them,, that there is lots of help out there. I found going to B & N for the free evening classes , and downloading the NOOK Color instructions online, was most helpful too.
Everyone is so helpful - here on KT, your local library in your case is best bet. (My librarian friend took the classes with me, knowing her library is in process of deciding between Kindle & NOOK, but will now be buying both because so many customers HAVE one or the other! )
Anyway Pattico - good luck, get to local store or library and you'll be fine & happy with yours & the particular reading you are looking for.
